I am re-posting because I provided the incorrect URL for National Review. Sorry about that.
could change to Obama’s depression
You can count on Victor Hanson to have a great article.
This one can’t be posted enough.
VDH totally gets it.
Except the part where he terms Baraq as “eloquent”.
That is incorrect, his only speaking success is with TOTUS.
Thanks. Long, but good.
The financial blowout didn't just "happen" in September, 2008. It was a preplanned, well executed attack on the financial system with the objective of ensuring Obama's election. The secondary purpose was to panic the populace and bring the economy to its knees so once Obama was elected he could push through his sweeping socialistic budget and agenda under the guise of fighting the "Bush Depression."
And it worked very well indeed. But why hasn't there been an investigation into the source of the attack? I don't expect the democrats or Obama administration to do it, but where is the interest on the part of the Republican party? Or are they afraid an investigation will hurt them as well as democrats?
At any rate, all the major players played their parts the way they were supposed to:
Paulson and Bernanke lied their heads off to scare anyone and everyone.
President Bush bought into the panic and was lead down the Primrose Path by Paulson and Bernanke, thereby forever being saddled with the resultant recession/depression as his legacy to America and giving Obama's handlers the opportunity to position him as the man who would save the economy.
(just think what might have happened if Bush had not paniced and had the cajones to call Paulson's bluff, denmanding more input and more time to consider the proper action.)
John McCain ran around like the proverbial chicken with his head cut off. Of course, whichever way he turned he ran into public relations traps the perpetrators of the crisis had already put into place, so he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.
Obama did what he always does - give speeches, but take no action. So he went into the last weeks of the campaign appearing to be the only cool hand in the game.
It was a setup alright, and America will pay the price for a long time - perhaps forever.
I agree... this line from the story “the reasons the public soured on Bush are precisely the reasons it may well sour more on Obama, inasmuch as he took Bushs problems like deficits, soaring federal spending, bailouts, and unemployment and made them far worse” is also true.
I’ve heard several mentions of Hillary Clinton running for president again recently. Maybe the Dem insiders already know that Obama is a fail, and they are setting up a Hillary run for 2012, just in case the above happens.
Here in Maine, I saw a bumper sticker a month ago which stated, “Don’t Blame Me....I Voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin!”
I think we’re there.
I totally agree with your assessment. The credibility of that scenario increases as we learn more about the shady relationships between Bernake, Paulson and the other players that engineered this disaster.
That is exactly right. This was all planned.
Thanks to all who responded to this post. It is becoming clearer and clearer that electing Mr. Obama was a mistake on several different levels.
I read Victor Davis Hanson as often as possible, because he is able to articulate what many of think and feel about Mr. Obama’s presidency thus far.
If things keep going the way they are, it would seem to me that Mr. Obama will be a one-term President. (Let’s hope and pray that he is!)
I'm betting Obummer goes with this one - he knows he's a one-termer so he's going to try to do as much damage as possible in his single term. ;-(
