Politico Cites Outdated Daily Kos Poll to 'Prove' Hoffman Lagging in NY-23 Race
NewsBusters ^ | October 24, 2009 | P.J. Gladnick

This is a Politico congressional race story that should have been labeled "WARNING: Read this story with a huge grain of salt." Why? First of all because the poll of the New York 23rd Congressional District was mostly taken before the big events of this past week were well known there. And even more importantly, the source of the poll was the Daily Kos which endorsed the very liberal Republican in the race, Dede Scozzafava. However, before we go into how absurd this poll was, let us watch Josh Kraushaar of Politico get all breathless about this highly questionable story:

The latest poll in the New York special election shows a close race, with Democrat Bill Owens leading Republican Dede Scozzafava 35 to 30 percent, with Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman at 23 percent.

The Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll provides some encouraging news for Scozzafava, who remains in second place – and within striking distance of Owens – despite a week of bad publicity. It shows her leading Hoffman among Republican voters, 46 to 27 percent.

So Politico is now using the Daily Kos as a reliable source for poll results????? “

It's not just them.
Real Clear Politics is including Kos polls in their polls as well, which doesn't really make too much sense, given how very partisan and political they are, plus they have endorsed Scozzafaza.
Anyways, let's see what next week's polls are like. That should be more interesting.

it doesnt matter. IT just show Palin didn’t care if the person she support will win or not. Unlike some politicians who refuses to back a candidate for fear of it damaging them if that person lose aka Obama

If Hoffman wins, more power to Palin

It just incredible how an assortment of super left wing lunatic kids at Daily Kos have so much power and influence over the democrat party and the liberal media. There are democrat congress people writing articles and opinions in this insane left wing blog.

It doesn't matter. Unless republicans get behind ONE candidate instead of two, this is a temp pick-up for the dems. I would rather have the dem win than the flaming RINO so we could pick the seat up next year.

I wonder if the people in the 23rd district of NY know how closely this race is being watched. I also wonder how any Republican could vote for Scazzafave over Hoffman with a straight face. I bet with all the attention lately, the polls are much closer than we are aware. Scazzafava needs to drop out and endorse Hoffman.

I agree. I’m anxious to see next weeks polls. I would think that Hoffman would have moved up quite a bit. Then the following week take the lead. We can only hope.

The only problem Hoffman has is the Republicans who don’t follow the news and just go in and vote party line. Many older voters don’t have internet skills, and the newspapers have kept it low key. I hope Hoffman organizers have some sort of “call your neighbor” plan set up for next week. I wish him well. He is most definately the best canditate of the 3.

The clowns that started Politico came from the Wash Compost.

That’s all you really need to know about Politico.

Exactly! I remember when it started and discovered who they had worked. Knew then to take them with a grain of salt.
