The White House on Friday highlighted a new multi-million-dollar technology fund for Muslim nations, following a pledge made by President Barack Obama in his landmark speech to the Islamic world.
The White House said the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) had issued a call for proposals for the fund, which will provide financing of between 25 and 150 million dollars for selected projects and funds.
The Global Technology and Innovation Fund will catalyze and facilitate private sector investments throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa, the White House said. Eligible projects would advance economic opportunity and create jobs in areas like technology, education, telecoms, media, business services and clean technology, the White House said.
OPIC said sample projects could help foster the development of new computer technology or telecommunications businesses, or widen access to broadband services. Proposals must be submitted by the end of November, and managers of funds that make a final short list will make presentations in January.
In his speech to the Muslim world in Cairo last June, Obama argued that education and innovation will be the currency of the 21st century and that under-investment was rife in many Muslim nations.
I am glad we have so much more money than OPEC.
Hindus and Buddhists need not apply?
It’s a shame there are no rich muslim countries to help out.
This is just so wrong on so many levels.
Electric head choppers for a cleaner quicker honor killing.
“selected projects” intentionally vague.
oh, goody...better bomb development for the muzzies.
Right in line with Obama’s policy of breaking people he hates - working Americans - while enriching those who hate them.
Just what the world needs, more ergonomic suicide belts.
Why?
There are a billions Muslims and last time I checked the ones living in the middle east are sitting on piles of money.
Obama is out of control and unless he’s forced out of office - I’m afraid his path is set to destroy this country.
I was encouraged by Cheney this week - taking a stand. I think Congress and Senate should start impeachment procedures.
Just a presidential earmark for his base constituency...
Flex-fuel car bombs.
Electric box cutters.
“Right in line with Obamas policy of breaking people he hates - working Americans - while enriching those who hate them.”
Usually, American foreign policy is remarkably consistent from administration to administration, unlike in the this case. Obama’s $150,000,000.00 is the nothing in comparison to the $400,000,000.00 worth of taxpayer money Bush gave to the KLA terrorists in Kosovo or the similar amount he gave to Fatah. Will Boehner protest that Obama no longer supports the Republicans’ pet Mohammedan terrorists and their aims? Is this why you are complaining?
obamaramalamalamadingdong — our first & only marxist muslim president. How many more days to the next inauguration?
168 Soldiers ,Sailors , Marines and AirMen dead since the change in the rules of engangement on July 2
5 more dead service men and this years death toll of American servicemen in Afghanistan will equal in total the same number of service men killed in the first five years of fighting in Afghanistan
and this guy wants to give our these murderous bastards money for their economic opportunity to create jobs in areas like technology.
What they aren’t building enough IED’s for his likeing or what?
I need to stop typing before I forget I am a lady because right now I suddenly have an urge to /curse and /spit

Just wondering whether or not this federal dough(vote buying money) could accelerate his already lucrative campaign ops from the mid-East.
Inquiring minds....
They first have to pull their heads out of O’s a$$ then grow some balls which so far is unlikely
Excellent point. I thought I would reply so you wouldn’t feel totally ignored.
I have never been afraid for my country before. This bastard scares me, mostly because no one has the cojones to stop him.
He almost makes klintoon look like Reagan and I never thought we could have a worse president than klintoon—Boy, was I wrong.
He is a hard core communists corrupt rat face piece of crap. Can't make it any clearer.
“I thought I would reply so you wouldnt feel totally ignored.”
I’m getting used to it on this sort of point. Frankly, the level of self delusion and hypocrisy around here since the election is astonishing.
Ah well, as Thomas Gray wrote in his poem, “Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College”: “Where ignorance is bliss, ‘tis folly to be wise.”. When I was in college we’d add, “And I refuse to be made unhappy”.
Sometimes people post twice by accident and then others complain about it. That does not apply with your post. You cna post that as many times as you like as far as I’m concerned.
Remarkably consistent? Apparently you haven't been following this administration's foreign policy escapades over the past 9 months.
As far as your KLA comment is concerned, too silly for comment.
“As far as your KLA comment is concerned, too silly for comment.”
And what, skeeter, is silly about it? Bush acted as midwife at the birth of the little Kosovo terror statelet and then gave the Mohammedan KLA regime a birthday present of $400,000,000.00 of our money. Then it was $400,000,000.00 more to Fatah.
Or do you deny this, skeeter?
To imply that this administration's foreign policy is similar to ANY previous administration's, with the possible exception of Jimmy Carter's, is arguable, at the very least.
But expecting me to leap to defend Bush's misguided and infuriating policy vs Kosovo is just plain ignorant.
Now run along & take your straw man.
“But expecting me to leap to defend Bush’s misguided and infuriating policy vs Kosovo is just plain ignorant.”
I didn’t ask you to defend Bush. Bush’s policy is indefensible. I asked you why you said my comment about the KLA was silly an d if you denied what Bush’s policy was. You can answer or not, if you can, as you please. But go ahead, skeeter; take a chance. See if you can keep it together long enough to make a cogent and rational excuse for your personal slap at me.
“Oh, and your snide tone doesn’t compliment your testimony.”
The words of +John Chrysostomos need no “compliment” from me or anyone else, skeeter.
This was your unsolicited comment to ME.
Which by the way, had nothing to do at all with my original post, which was NOT to you.
Keep it together long enough to tell me you didn't mean to be sarcastic.
“Keep it together long enough to tell me you didn’t mean to be sarcastic.”
Of course I meant to be sarcastic. I still hope you’ll tell us all why the comment about the KLA was “silly”.
Meanwhile, the US unemployment reaches 10%
And, were broke.
I hated Bush's policy in Kosovo, yet there you are, directing your sarcasm my way.
Strikes me as uninformed.
muslim technology? Oxymoron? Or, are we funding studies in metallurgy to develop improved blades?
Lol oops
I think I was busy /cursing and /spitting and forgetting I was a lady =P
