Huckabee Doesn't Endorse Hoffman In NY-23 -- But Agrees With Him On Everything
TPM ^ | October 23, 2009 | Eric Kleefeld

Posted on 10/23/2009 3:53:42 PM PDT by ellery

During an appearance on the Neil Cavuto show, Mike Huckabee said he would not make an endorsement in the NY-23 special election -- and then proceeded to profusely praise Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman, and say he could never support a pro-choice candidate (which so happens to be the case for the GOP's nominee, Dede Scozzafava).

"Certainly his views represent more closely to mine," said Huckabee. "I'm not taking a role in that with my PAC, simply because I feel like it would be inappropriate with me at this point -- mainly because I'm already speaking to the Conservative Party next week. But it is not an endorsement speech, it is an awards speech, and I don't want to get the two confused."

Huckabee also said: "I'm never gonna support somebody who does not believe that every human life has value and meaning. I'm not gonna support people who would do things like say TARP is one of those great, wonderful things. I think I have a right and responsibility to only support people who hold to principles, above party and above just the politics of winning and losing."

Ah--it appears Huck, like Pawlenty, wants to have it both ways.

So where's Romney?

We must support and elect constitutional candidates whom we know beforehand will take their oath to the constitution seriously and fufill that oath, and who are committed wholly to stand on and support constitutional principle.

When WE, the citizens and voters of this nation insist on that course of action ourselves, in large numbers, we will inact change.

That is what is happening here with Sarah and others as they openly support Hoffman...and it is what MUST happen with each of us. By doing so we will pull the GOP back to the constitution and to its own platform.

When we do, the right candidates and the right parties will rise to the top like cream rises to the top of fresh milk because we will have insisted and forced it to be so.

The FR sanctioned:

RESTORE THE CONSTITUTION EFFORT

which is an FR Alliance web site, is about precisely that. Please join us, and a lot of other FREEPERS there, as we work together and identify and support candidates dedicated to doing precisely that at all levels.

yep. Weasels will be outed. Hoffman is an emergent acid test. Conclusions cannot be avoided. Either you are a conservative or you are something else. There is no voting "present" here, Huckleberry.

Funny, I’ve been saying for years that one should vote for the candidate they actually want to win the office, based on principle, even if they are not Republicans, and I just get told “I’m throwing my vote away”...

Huck must think we’re idiots, too, to offer such a LAME, disingenuous excuse. It’s not appropriate to endorse at this time??

From his web site:
“Huck PAC is committed to helping Republicans regain control of the House and Senate, regain a majority of governorships and supporting conservative principles around the country.”

http://www.huckpac.com/?Fuseaction=About.Home

Apparently this part is assumed, like the silent “e”: unless supporting conservative principles and candidates requires political courage, in which case Huck will pay lip service but do NOTHING.

Yeah, and give everyone “free” health care. He is a caricature of what is wrong with the GOP. The GOP seems hell bent on wanting to become Democrat Lite. Newt parading around claiming to be a Conservative is an absolute insult to true Conservatives fighting the left at every turn without ceding any ground.

And he's indecisive like Obama too. Hoffman ain't gonna have enough power to overturn Roe v. Wade, but when the rubber meets the road, guys like Huckabee are afraid to stake a position on everything from smaller government, less taxes, gun rights, and personal personal freedoms.

Being pro-life is not a Conservative issue, it's a moral one.  Huck isn't a Conservative, he's a phony.

In every frontrunner’s political life, he/she can do no wrong, his/her popularity continues to increase or soar and you feel on top of the world because everything is going swimmingly in terms of acclaim and affirmation.

Then like in a football game some event intervenes to change the flow of the game: a running back fumbles, a QB throws an interceptions for a TD, an important player gets injured or the other team makes a lucky play.

In political terms that is what the Hoffman candidacy is to Huckabee. Huckabee would have preferred that this race not be fought at all during 2009, that no GOP national contests would occur before fall 2010. That would give time for Huck to plan his strategy as a frontrunner and not have to show the public if he has “the right stuff” or not.

The Congressional 23 race is showing the public what Huckabee really is and how he thinks. I will not call him a coward, but simply he is a typical politician who sticks his/her finger in the wind to determine which way he should to go and if that finger remains stagnant he/she does nothing.

If Palin makes huge strides in her F/UF over the next month or two and Huckabee suffers a corresponding decline you might be able to trace it back to the Hoffman endorsement by Palin, and especially if Hoffman pulls the upset.
