The First Lady cited a new study from the Department of Health and Human Services -- which just happened to come out today -- citing breast cancer patients with insurance who had to pay an average of $6,200 in out-of-pocket costs each year. "This is with insurance," Mrs. Obama said. "These are the people who are blessed." The situation is, of course, far worse for those without insurance, Mrs. Obama said.
But the insurance companies make life miserable even for those with coverage. "And then there are those annual lifetime caps that insurance companies set," Mrs. Obama said, with "one recent survey show[ing] that ten percent of all cancer patients report hitting a cap on their benefits

No mention of breats cancer survival rates between the US and UK???????
She wouldn’t know blessed if it hit her in the .. uhhh..

My wife has been treated for metastatic breast cancer for 8 years now...can’t say we have had any issues with our insurance company at all.
I’m wondering where these so called statistics were from?
At least the trains run on time. and if they don’t you just reset the clocks.
These people HAVE. NO. CLASS.
Any mention of life saving treatment not available where there is universal care?
The woman is as evil as her husband.
Guaranteed Byron York and the publication will get reamed for issuing a “personal attack” on MO. Imagine if Mrs Bush had politicized an event like this. Or Mrs Reagan! We would never hear the end of it.
Sure, Michelle, as if we with “public option” there will be no limits on care. No caps, no limits. Liar.
That is such a great point. I wish you could have been there and asked Manchelle that question.
You could have asked her that question and I could have yelled, ‘ YOU LIE” when she said if you like your insurance you can keep it.
She is as big a POS as odumbo.
“And then there are those annual lifetime caps that insurance companies set,”
this is like claiming she sat on her pappy’s lap and watched carl lewis in the olympics....there’s a lifetime cap and an annual cap...never heard of an annual lifetime cap....think anyone will call her out on it???
Funny, to me she is bitching about having too many cancer survivors. I could be interpreting that incorrectly.
My prayers for her!!!
fat bum doing nothing but pushing her Marxist agenda again
$6200 per year is a lot, but waiting with a government plan for 3 years to be diagnosed, and then hoping to be treated, like in Britain, seems to be a worse fate.
I was fortunate to have early detection of pre-cancerous cells. Had surgery and extra screenings, MRIs, etc. It’s costing quite a bit with high deductible insurance, but, to me, it’s worth every penny. Lots of discretionary spending has been eliminated, but I’m grateful to have excellent medical care.
I don’t have one beef with the insurance company. They deliver what I contracted with them to deliver. I chose high deductible, over high monthly payments. My choice and I live with it. I’m not going to go crying to Michelle O over it.
$6200 a year is a pretty reasonable sum to pay for your life.
True..according to her hubby. Just give them the choice between the blue pill and the red pill.
Wonder how they came up w/that $6200 number?? Bet there are plenty of women on our board that know thats made up.
Pray for America and Our Troops
Maybe Obama can eliminate some of the regulations that make insurance more expensive.
I know a real Cowboy and he knows livestock. He told me the other day that this woman has a “Bad eye”.
How many breast cancer patients did she dump from the hospital where she worked because they didn’t have insurance?!
Michelle has a lot of nerve saying this stuff without mentioning the fact that Canada has a 16% higher mortality rate for women with breast cancer.
or how about the story the other day from the UK that said women HER2 positive breast cancer were going to be denied Tykerb because it costs too much...
Someone here put it best a few weeks ago......
She’s an a**hole.
Perhaps a little raw for some, but exactingly accurate.
They are looking for substantial deviations so they can "go affa' ya".
I don't care, and besides, Michelle obviously has much less real risk of ever developing breast cancer than virtually all other women ~ cain't say that 'bout her thighs though ~ definitely THUNDEROUS is not quite the word.
Nope. She knows exactly what she is saying and saying what she means. Once obama care is implemented, the fools and idiots that voted for it will learn the hard way what she is saying. But they are too stupid to realize it.
That’s Sadistics, not Statistics.
(Man, I miss Laura Bush!)
What insurance policy did that woman pay for? If she bought something with a very high deductible or a 20% co-pay with no limit, then she got cheaper insurance at the cost of having to pay more in the bad years. If the insurance company is following the contract then no one has anything to complain about. It would be like me being upset at having to pay $500 if I'm in a wreck, even though I bought the $500 deductible car insurance.
“Michelle Obama turns Breast Cancer Awareness Month into attack on insurance companies”
My! How srange!
“My wife has been treated for metastatic breast cancer for 8 years now...cant say we have had any issues with our insurance company at all.”
My wife has been treated for Hep C and related problems for about that long, and every year I pay the max out-of-pocket (currently $6200) plus another $2500 for various prescriptions. It’s a struggle, but I have a decent insurance plan that I’d rather have than Obamacare (and the out-of-pocket is a small percentage of her total treatment costs).
If Michelle Obama lived in the UK, she would have to wait a year for a mammogram. By the time she found the cancer she’d be dead. Hey Michelle, still want that socialized medicine
Michelle Obamas patient-dumping scheme
By Michelle Malkin March 3, 2009
Back in August, the Chicago Sun-Times reported on Michelle Obama and David Axelrods involvement in a University of Chicago Medical Center program that steered patients who dont have private insurance primarily poor, black people to other health care facilities.
My Grandmother when I was just a opinionated kid, had aggressive BC. Back when Breast surgery was mutilation. She was given 5 years. But our great small town Doc treated her and she live another 20 years. I never give up. Especially with todays cutting edge medicine.
Protocol in GB, if I remember correctly, is a mammogram every 3 years, after 50. Your odds are bad if you have cancer and have to wait that long for diagnosis.
I’mma let chew get back to yo breass cancer munt but Barack say pass healthcare or I’mma gonna knock you out.
No,she would not. She would be paer of the ruling elite ant thus exempt from the rules the serfs have to follow.
She would not have to wait but you would.
For the Race everything, for those outside the race, nothing.
Mussolini never made the trains run on time.
People without insurance are in trouble if they get breast cancer, says Michelle.
I think she forgot to add that if they cause a car accident without automobile insurance, they will also be in trouble.
Oh, and she should have added that people without food really get hungry. People without coats get cold. People without cell phones can’t ever be reached when they are not home. And worst of all, if you don’t go to the bathroom, you will have wet pants.
Our Patient-Dumping First Lady is lying through her pearly WHITE teeth.
For these people (Democrats) no moment is without its political calculation.
