Deputy director general Mark Byford has said it is not the BBC's role to censor the BNP as criticism mounts ahead of the party's Question Time appearance.
He said the BNP's Euro vote meant the BBC had to allow it on as part of its "responsibility of due impartiality".
Cabinet minister Peter Hain had asked the BBC to rethink its invitation to the whites-only political party.
Ex-London Mayor Ken Livingstone said the BBC would bear moral responsibility for any "spike" in racist attacks.
And the Equality and Human Rights Commission said the party's membership rules were currently illegal and it should not be regarded by the BBC "as equivalent to other political parties which abide by the law".

The real problem, of course, is that the radical left wingers who have controlled so much of British life for the last 40 plus years have forced the creation of groups like the BNP. Why? Because little or no true conservatism is allowed. Conservative are you? Well, then you’re a racist, a homophobe, a Nazi, etc. People have gotten so upset and feel so marginalized in THEIR OWN COUNTRY that the BNP (shady as its origins are, bad as some of its characters are) begins to look GOOD anyway.
The BBC helped create the BNP. No the BBC has to deal with their creation. Too damn bad.

vlad, from what I’ve gathered, you nailed the whole issue regarding the BNP. The Leftist Labour Party has been outted as allowing unfettered immigration to GB to enlarge their voter base just as the Amnesty avocates in the US. The Left & Right have both been tainted by this travesty and the BNP as well as other ‘extremist’ (according to the dhimmis) parties have risen to fill the void for the opressed white indigenous class! The Dhimmis have unleashed their own demise. The payback is coming!
I agree with what you’re saying. There may be plenty of racist clowns, facists, whatever in the BNP, but there are also people, desparate people in the BNP who simply feel like they have NO WHERE ELSE TO GO.
To me the proof for what I am saying is that the BNP, on policy, is sometimes absolutely right (and American conservatives would agree with them on those policies), but it doesn’t matter because it will always be treated as a racist party and nothing more.
Isn’t that what the libs here are trying to foist on American conservatives? If you disagree with the ONE you’re a racist?
