Just last week I heard someone suggest that Tony Blair fits the criteria of being the Anti-christ, which I found a little surprising. Now this(!)

Since the new-style presidency will have no executive powers, this is no big deal. Let him prance around pretending to be important again, if that pleases him.

“We already have one unelected prime minister...”

Ahh, excuse my ignorance on this issue, but I thought Gordon Brown was elected because his party got the most seats. I am a bit confused.

He also has a world faith organization...

He fit it more than anyone else I have ever known.

Not that I'm saying he is....

You are right.....we do not have a president and the Labour party elected him constitutionally... I was overstating the case but.....

and this is by no means an exclusive conservative view......)

Normally when the public vote in an election they know who will be prime minister in the case of each party wining and that can be very persuasive for or against .

When Tony opted out of being Prime Minister there was no election in the Labour Party as to who their new leader (and the country's Prime Minister) would be. Opposition was silenced and Brown was shoe-horned into number 10. That is what grieves many people on the left right and in the centre.

He is there consitutionally but hardly with a mandate and that is his big political problem. He has also brought back Peter Mandelson into the government who IS unelected, and it all smells unpleasant. If Tony were to be President of Europe the overall 'feel' would be undemocratic. We will have an election soon, if Brown is still our Dear Leader he will be sent packing....
