The Family Research Council is blasting House Republican leaders who have endorsed a GOP congressional candidate in New York who supports abortion, same-sex "marriage," and President Obama's economic "stimulus" program.
Dede Scozzafava (R-New York)The November 3 special election in New York's 23rd Congressional District features Republican abortion and same-sex marriage advocate Dede Scozzafava, Democrat Bill Owens, and Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman. Hoffman has won endorsements from former Republican presidential candidates Gary Bauer and Fred Thompson, as well as from conservative groups like the Club for Growth, Concerned Women for America, and the Family Research Council.
Meanwhile, The Hill reports that 17 House Republicans have written checks to Dede Scozzafava's campaign. They include House Minority Leader John Boehner (Ohio), Minority Whip Eric Cantor (Virginia), National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (Texas), and Representative Kevin McCarthy (California), who is in charge of recruiting GOP candidates to run next year.
Connie Mackey, president of the Family Research Council Action Political Action Committee, believes those 17 House Republicans are abandoning conservative values.
Connie Mackey (FRC Action PAC)"The very idea that someone of that liberal stripe would have the backing of the leadership frankly I think fires a shot across the bow for the future," she states, "and we felt it was very important to send a message right back."
Mackey takes particular offense to comments in The Hill attributed to an "unnamed GOP congressman" who suggested that Republicans who don't back Scozzafava, including House Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence, are "anti-women." She is calling on that unnamed congressman to identify himself and apologize to his colleagues for "maligning" them.
"This is ridiculous -- putting a liberal up like that and expecting everybody [in the GOP] to fall in line.

How utterly disgusting!
To take back the party we have to get involved in these damn primary Rinos. Out with Charlie Christ and Scuzzball.

Scozzafava/McCain 2012!!!!!!!!
/RCCC
Clearly they haven't.
Have we?
I'm back to the viable third party option. We need a leader and we need one now!
The damned Republicrats will NEVER learn!
I’ve funneled about as much as I can afford to Marco Rubio! To hell with Crist and the rest of the Republicrats. There is something unholy and perverted about the relationships these so-called Republicans have with the Damnocrats. (Like the pencil-necked geek Orrin Hatch and dozens more!
I’ll remember this every time they ask me for money!
Purge the RINOs, or we form a 3rd party of Conservatives to whip the mealymouthed BUTTS into the ashcan of history.
Isn’t it typical? The GOP hates Sarah Palin, and embraces Scozzafava, a sad joke of a parody of a Republican. Time to rise up and show them what they need to do, or we’re GONE.
We’re fighting a two front war - against the Marxist democrats and the left wing Rockefeller RINOs.
Who was that mythological guy who swept out the Augean stables? We need 10 of him on Popeye spinach and a fleet of garbage trucks.
Dede ‘we are all liberals now’. This election is an acid test on what the Republican party will support.
Sarah is a conservative. Scozzafava is an Obammy mammy.
Not based on the picture of her which I saw.
No 3rd party.
Takeover the GOP.
the current gop leaders in the senate and house needs to be changed
I find it hard to believe that 20% of American voters still identify themselves as Republicans. That group needs to go the way of the Whigs--and soon.
That would be Boehner!
Great, change ‘em.

Another ugly liberal Republicrat in the mold of Olympia Snowejob.
Oh, really?
And replace it with what?
just like you dolts did in Minnisota........
ITS THE PRIMARIES PEOPLE
People need to understand that the GOP, the elite GOP, no longer represents them. I have seen no signs that the party has been taken back, nor have I seen any signs it will be.
Now, what are y’all going to do?
We need a conservative party.
Hunter 2012!
What are YOU doing about it?
Palin/Hunter?
Wanna really help conservatives? Start a liberal third party.
Sounds good to me!
Send money to Hoffman.
Quite frankly Cedric, I am trying to take care of an autistic child whose mother has cancer and has left him. What are you doing lately, patriot?
We already have two liberal parties. Why not start a conservative party?
Just wait 'til Sarah Palin campaigns for a RINO......got your pitchfork ready?
Hunter/King, King/Hunter, Hunter/Bachmann, DeMint/Hunter, Hunter/DeMint, Cheney/Hunter, Hunter/Cheney, Hunter/Palin, Palin/Hunter are a few combinations that may work.
I’m inspiring people.
I just think it would be novel and highly effective to split the liberal vote for a change.
You don’t inspire me. Inspire yourself you fool. By the way. I was not inspired, so you must be doing something wrong.
Go figure.
Thanks for showing your colors. WE NEED A "NEW CONSERVATIVE" PARTY. Get rid of these senile nuts.
Yes, I inspire myself.
And I want everyone to experience the exhilaration!
The brand is a loser.
The money and effort you spend would only bring it to a vague neutral state. Further the party is deeply and widely in the control of gland handing rent seekers, favor makers, sellouts, dolts, dullards and it’s only ideological core is Rockefeller Republicanism believing in progress thought better running of state institutions ( i.e., social/economic planning lite/slow )
You remind me of Chrissy Matthews, he feels much the same;)
The GOP is currently 5 points ahead on the generic ballot!
no primary in NY special election
And I WILL tell you the republican party IS tHE THIRD party. \
NO conservative on my ballot .. no vote. And that includes that dirtball Boehnner. Talk is cheap .. he has never been anything then a career, spineless maggot with a good talk at election time. No more.
Never again .. thanks to you for your continual support of RINO’s and giving us zerobammer.
I’m back to the viable third party option. We need a leader and we need one now!”
Ok this is it! We must refrain from envisioning a third party and begin to see a conserative replacement party!! A two party system socialist democrats and conservative republicans to he** with the RINOs
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find only things evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelogus
The OP(formerly the GOP) is cutting its own political throat.
The GOP wasn’t nicknamed “The Stupid Party” for nothing.
That’s because the RINO’S don’t want to be thrown out either......GET “EM HOFFMAN!!
Like I say, the best thing going for the Republicans is the Democrats. If it wasn’t for the Democrats, five people would be Republicans.
So, yeah, they’re doing good, so long as no real other option appears. And, that’s the way they act. Timid, defensive, slow. The political equivalent of prevent defense in football ( my defensive coach used to tell us defensive players that the purpose of defensive was to win football games. That defense was just offense, only the other guys get to start with ‘OUR’ ball for some reason. )
Let me illustrate the GOP in another way. Could you imagine the Marines acting like the GOP? “Oh, gee Gunny, maybe this would be a good time to fall back .”
Reagan as a modern day GOP. “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear Down This Wall. It’s ugly, we’ll help you build a nicer one.”
