Traditional Americans are losing their nation (Must Read)
WND ^ | 10/20/2009 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 10/21/2009 1:25:09 PM PDT by cartervt2k

In their lifetimes, they have seen their Christian faith purged from schools their taxes paid for, and mocked in movies and on TV. They have seen their factories shuttered in the thousands and their jobs outsourced in the millions to Mexico and China. They have seen trillions of tax dollars go for Great Society programs, but have seen no Great Society, only rising crime, illegitimacy, drug use and dropout rates.

They watch on cable TV as illegal aliens walk into their country, are rewarded with free educations and health care and take jobs at lower pay than American families can live on – then carry Mexican flags in American cities and demand U.S. citizenship.

They see Wall Street banks bailed out as they sweat their next paycheck, then read that bank profits are soaring, and the big bonuses for the brilliant bankers are back. Neither they nor their kids ever benefited from affirmative action, unlike Barack and Michelle Obama.

They see a government in Washington that cannot balance its books, win our wars or protect our borders. The government shovels out trillions to Fortune 500 corporations and banks to rescue the country from a crisis created by the government and Fortune 500 corporations and banks.

America was once their country. They sense they are losing it. And they are right.

The real question is: “How much longer will we put up with this cr*p?”

“Pat nails it, as usual.”

Yep, but of course there is the sizeable group of politically correct FReepers who over the years have caved into and echoed the left’s smearing of Buchanan, so they’ll probably show up today with their usual condemnations. Bunch of wusses. Buchanan was telling the truth about all this 20 years ago. It took 20 years for people to wake up and find themselves staring right into the reality of his predictions.

You’re right. I was one of those listening to Pat over 20 years ago and most everything that’s happening now, he was warning us about then.

But if we listen to Lindsey Graham, he doesn’t want to the Republicans to become a party of “angry white guys” as if white guys (and gals) don’t have anything to be angry about.

I've never paid much attention to the left's animus towards Buchanan - and I believe he has, in fact, been correct about most of this stuff. You read it and it just rings true.

That's why it's so disconcerting when Pat goes off on the "Hitler" tangent, as he did recently re: the invasion of Poland. He's lucky he has any credibility at all.

Yep, the Nazi-like things he has said (and that I have read with my own eyes) definitely affects his credibility.

It would be of great interest for Pat or someone to write how this all came about. I’ll take a shot at it [no pun intended].

The first thing to realize is that it did not start with Obama. Pat recognized this in his 1992 campaign when the workers at plants asked him to save their jobs. Pat through in the sponge but made a great campaign speech [worth reading for those not familiar with it] endorsing Bush, the Elder.

Obama inherited the job exporting started by Clinton and magnified by Bush, the Younger. No jobs means more reliance on Government. Obama is the beneficiary of the Wall Street search for profits. Even Nader pointed out that corporations no longer salute the flag - they are international.

We are not a textbook economic model of the ‘long run’ benefits. We are a political economy where we vote on our personal economy in the ‘short run’ of elections. The better off one is, the more likely to vote Republican. The worse off one is, the more likely to vote Democrat.

Darwinian economics is the cause of more reliance on government. The rich are becoming richer, the poor more dependent. The solution will await the resurgence of jobs, but Obama is in no hurry to create jobs because Democrats like more government. Republicans are in no hurry because American workers will increase costs. God Bless Americans.

Pat plays the defeatist as usual.

I grant you things are pretty crappy right now, but as a student of history I can cite case after case when it appeared the USA was finished- one excellent example would be the U.S. Civil War. However, at the end of the day, the flag was still there.

I’m not saying we Patriots should not be concerned - after all we do have a fascist Administration in power for the first time in our history, but where the defeatists like Pat see the end of Republican America, Patriots like me see an golden opportunity to literally destroy the Left in a new civil war as completely as our U.S. Civil War ancestors destroyed the Confederates.

Indeed, “We have not yet begun to fight.”

Does anyone really think that we can continue to have 90% non-European immigration driving whites into minority status (2040 est.) and America will be America in anything other than name? Anyone think a conservative would ever be elected under such conditions? Ha! When that happens America will be ruled by a successive series of the Obama-style Marxist coalitions until the US finally collapses completely.

I disagree - In my view race, religion and nationality are not important - what is important are the transmission of the ideals of the American Revolution to new immigrants. This can happen if Patriots remove the Left from government, academia and business.

Pat Buchanan just has an unemotional opinion that America comes first before ANY other nation for any reason. His book reflects his view of what would have happened if America had kept out of Europe’s business. That doesn’t make him pro-Hitler or pro-Nazi. It is an intellectual exercise that most people disagree with. It is not politically correct. Buchanan doesn’t hate Jews or anyone else, he just doesn’t believe America should help out. Disclaimer: I disagree with him, but he’s not a hater.

Yep! Every so often in our nation’s history the crap builds up in the political system to the point where we have an explosion, i.e, a civil war.

A good metaphor would be a forest fire which happens every so often in any forest because the under brush and the dead trees build up.
