Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) will appear as the special guest at a fundraiser next week to benefit South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint's 2010 re-election, according to a copy of the invitation obtained by the Fix.
The event, which will be held on Monday in Charleston at the home of Sheila and Bill Prezzano, features a number of power players in Palmetto State politics including money men Dick Coen, Bill Hewitt and O.L. Thompson as well as former Gov. Jim Edwards, former Rep. Tommy Hartnett and Republican National Committeewoman Cindy Costa.
Hosts for the event are expected to donate $4,800 per couple while sponsors must give $2,400.
Romney's presence at the fundraiser is yet another sign of the former governor's interest in a second presidential bid in 2012.

That’s an interesting pairing. And, I don’t think I like it, as I find DeMint actually appealing.

DeMint is harming himself if he mates up with Romney.

More like: Romney wants to learn how to raise cash because he threw most of his away on his failed presidential bid.
To: rabscuttle385
Since he allows Romney to assist his campaign that DeMint must be a
RINO.
No more RINO's!

Nope.

Romney is collecting chits for 2012.
No matter what, he’s still a chithead.

If Romney agrees to promote DeMint, it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The kicker is what DeMint promised to get that support. If he promised anything positive toward a Romney run, then that’s bad.

This is like Tom Coeburn supporting McCain in 2008 Primary....makes me wonder a little bit about DeMint.

Romney is desperately trying to get some conservative street cred going.
DeMint is just simply the gold standard.

Dumbest post ever. Really? On FR all I see is that Romney is a RINO. His RINO'ness knows no bounds. Romney is a pond scum RINO, no lower example of RINO is to be found. Romney makes Olympia Snowe look like a stalwart conservative.
So, never mind ACU ratings and things like that, where DeMint scores as the most conservative senator. Commit these ratings to the flames, all we need to know is that DeMint did a fund raiser with Romney.

Much like Romney's every-changing positions on the issues, he will do anything, change any position, align himself with anyone if he thinks it will give him political advantage.
He is not a leader and he is not POTUS material.
He is a used-car dealer selling snake oil.

Romney...will do anything, change any position...He is not a leader...He is a used-car dealer selling snake oil. See, just what I said, Romney's a perfidious no-good RINO. So for DeMint to campaign with Romney makes DeMint either a fool or a closet RINO.
DeMint is finished. Better to support Lindsey Graham, who would never stoop so low as to have Romney campaign for him.

ACU ratings? Boob bait for conservatives. Who would believe them? The David Keene, 20-25 year long, self appointed hack that supported his good friend....Arlen Specter?.
Yeah, right.

Hey Jim, I understand about the money and all, but please remember that Romney is poison. As long as Romney knows he stands behind Sen. DeMint I don't have a problem. Sen DeMint will need the "moderates" to support him when he runs for President.

So????
Mark Sanford, as a result of his affair and how he handled it, is no more fit to lead than Mitt Romney.

Nope, just a serious lack of judgement on DeMint's part.
Graham is not much better than Romney, another "finger-in-the-wind" RINO, just like Mitt, looking for that "sweet" spot in the menu of positions on the issues that will get him the highest number of votes.
Mitt has always been just about Mitt and his ambitions.
From his outrageous support for Abortion, his open and stated dislike of Reagan, his support for the Gay agenda and lobby, his general all-around weakness on all positions conservative.
He is a chamelion, changing his spots to fit his environment.
To: SoConPubbie
Nope, just a serious lack of judgement on DeMint's part. So, the most conservative national Republican, the sole Senate ACU Defender of Liberty , with a 100% rating, is out of nowhere demonstrating a serious lack of judgement?
Alternatively, maybe DeMint is showing excellent judgement, and he judges Romney not to be the RINO you say he is.

LOL. And DeMint must be a RINO from WAY back since he was Mitt's national co-chair during the LAST campaign and even wrote this nice letter of endorsement.
