RNC chair Steele praised ACORN
American Thinker ^ | 10/20/09 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 10/20/2009 11:29:12 AM PDT by pissant

Thomas Lifson What on earth was Michael Steele thinking? With Democrat vote maximizing ACORN on the rocks, he offers praise and excuses. ACORN president Bertha Lewis gave a National Press Club speech portraying ACORN as a victim that provoked even liberal Dana Milbank to scoff. But somehow, the GOP's chairman sees ACORN through rose-colored lenses.

Matthew Vadum of the American Spectator writes:

In a video of Steele from a Sept. 21 speech that surfaced on a left-wing website the day of Lewis's speech, Steele praises Lewis. "The current head of the organization, she's done a phenomenal job getting out in front of it," Steele said. "I applaud her. I take her at her word that she wants to work to make sure that the bad apples are thrown out."

Steele said he respects ACORN's history of "working in the community and helping the poor."

So much for the Republican boogeyman.

I tell you, a blind and maimed and neutered squirrel would be better than Michael Steele as head of the RNC

That was last fall. Probably trying to butter them up, so they’d steal dead Republican votes as well as dead Democrat votes.

How’d that work, Steele?

First we had McCain on video praising ACORN and SEIU as the ones "who make America special" in 2006.

Now we have reports that Steele was praising ACORN.

It is becoming abundantly clear that the RINOpubbie establishment is in bed with ACORN too, just like the DemonRATs.

If the RNC does NOT find another person for this job, I will change my voter registration before the next time I can vote..
I have been a registered Republican since I was 21, and I am almost 70.
They will lose me.

I see reference to a “Conservative Party” in a couple of eastern states.

Is this a nationwide group?

I may have to contact Alan Keyes.

Further proof that the democrat and republican parties are just two branches of the GOVERNMENT party.

Steele doesn’t even consider the propriety of using taxpayer money to support a group like ACORN or the wisdom of allowing third party groups like ACORN to solicit (or manufacture) voter registrations for people too lazy, uninvolved, stupid or too dead to register on their own.

He knows about them, and still “reaches across the aisle”?

Get this guy out of there.

The last thing I want in the head of my part is someone who wants to be bi-partisan with the worst shakedown artists out of a party of shake-down artists.

Steele doesn't know who he is, and he doesn't know who we are. He has no business leading what he doesn't know how to lead.

I agree with another post; get Hunter. Get someone who wants to fight. Nobody fields a quarterback who wants to commiserate with the other team; you hire a quarterback who wants to run touchdowns one after another.

Republicans get smeared as evil and mean, because for years they’ve been in the “high-road” posture of being
masochists, and the Dems have been willing sadists, eager to exercise their talents on the “guilty-about-everything” Republicans. W was like that, so was McCain, so is Steele.
The time is up on these kinds of pathetic psychological role-playing. If the Pubs “under Steele” blow it this time and continue doing stuff like backing in the New York 23rd election, people like Dede Whatsherface, they deserve to get the brunt of the tea party pressure.
And, oh, I read yesterday , that Michael Steele has a website called “What up”. How......”with it”......I guess...

The fact that the RNC is pushing to expand their RINO membership tells me their hasn’t yet been enough pressure placed upon them to counter the direction they have chosen, therefore a major assault via mail, email, telephone is in order.

If they don’t respond to a massive protest of their Leftist direction positively, and in a timely manner, then it is apparent they have been completely absorbed by the Dark Side.

Then, and only then should we consider our alternatives.

The Left will rejoice should we select to go third party, and relegate ourselves to the oblivion of that category of Political parody.
