MoveOn: STAY OFF FOX!
E-mail | 10/20/2009 | Noa T. Whiner

Posted on 10/20/2009 11:25:34 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Dear MoveOn member,

All year, FOX has worked 24/7 to block President Obama's agenda—repeating lies about "death panels," promoting Tea Party protests, and whipping up fake political scandals.1

Now, President Obama is fighting back. The White House communications director said FOX is a "wing of the Republican Party...let's not pretend they're a news network."2 To draw attention to its biased coverage, President Obama will not appear on FOX for the rest of this year.3

It's about time Democrats stood up to FOX! Can you sign this petition asking Democrats to support President Obama's stance by staying off FOX as long as he does? We'll deliver it to Democratic leaders. Clicking here will add your name:

http://civic.moveon.org/foxobama/o.pl?id=17604-3642369-vMbMsWx&t=3

The petition says: "Democrats should support President Obama's effort to call out FOX. Please stay off FOX for as long as he does."

Democrats often appear on FOX in hopes of reaching out to conservative viewers. But FOX cuts off their mic, distorts what they say, or runs biased headlines at the bottom of the screen.4 In the end, Democrats always lose on FOX.

FOX insists there's a difference between its news shows and its right-wing opinion shows with Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and others.

But in August, FOX's so-called news shows "aired 22 clips of town hall meeting attendees opposed" to Obama's health care plans and zero in support. CNN and MSNBC were more fair and balanced.5

In another "news" story, FOX passed off a GOP press release as its own research—typo and all.6

FOX executives now describe the channel as "the voice of opposition" to Obama's agenda. FOX president Roger Ailes—a former adviser to Nixon, Reagan, and George H.W. Bush—said, "I see this as the Alamo."7

But a Capitol Hill newspaper reports, "In the House and Senate, Democrats who pledged to follow the administration's near-boycott of Fox were hard to find, although many expressed support for Obama's stance."8

Democrats will only find the courage to join Obama if they hear from enough concerned voters. Sign this petition to ask Democratic leaders to stay off FOX. Clicking here will add your name:

This would be funny except the next step in attacking FOX is to go after the sponsors.

That's the scary part.

FOX has the highest rated shows in almost every hour. You'd think the MoveOn people would get a clue.

(prior to the election)

"The Communist Party USA views the 2008 elections as a tremendous opportunity to defeat the policies of the right-wing Republicans and to move our country in a new progressive direction.

The record turnout in the Democratic Presidential primary races shows that millions of voters, including millions of new voters, are using this election to bring about real change. We wholeheartedly agree with them."

(after the election)

A Landslide Mandate For Change

Congratulations on an extraordinary history making election!

We can think back with pride to decades of hard work toward our strategic goal of a big enough, broad enough and united enough labor and all-people’s movement that could overcome the ultra-right blockage to all progress. That all people’s movement has come to life, it is dynamic and it has the potential to keep growing.

The election of Barack Obama and a strengthened Congress creates new conditions in our country. There is now the possibility to shift gears and move forward. This new day requires us to further develop our tactics in order to continue to deepen and broaden labor and people’s unity.

There are thousands of experiences that we all have had in these momentous days, some large, some small, all of which express the enormity of change in thinking and readiness for involvement that is underway and that steels us for the battles ahead.

The tears of joy we all shared as crowds gathered to watch the election results here and throughout the world dramatize the new moment we are in.

July 1, 2009...

Change is Here, Change is Coming

Sam Webb, National Chair, Communist Party, USA:

Let me begin with a simple observation: If the last 30 years were an era of reaction, then the coming decade could turn into an era of reform, even radical reform. Six months into the Obama presidency, I would say without hesitation that the landscape, atmosphere, conversation, and agenda have strikingly changed compared to the previous eight years.

In this legislative session, we can envision winning a Medicare-like public option and then going further in the years ahead.

We can visualize passing tough regulatory reforms on the financial industry, which brought the economy to ruin.

We can imagine the troops coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan while U.S. representatives participate in a regional process that brings peace and stability to the entire region.

In the current political climate, the expansion of union rights becomes a real possibility.

Much the same can be said about winning a second stimulus bill, and we sure need one, given the still-rising rate, and likely long term persistence, of unemployment.

Isn’t it possible in the Obama era to create millions of green jobs in manufacturing and other sectors of the economy in tandem with an attack on global warming?

Can’t we envision taking new strides in the long journey for racial and gender equality in this new era, marked at its beginning by the election of the first African American to the presidency?

And isn’t the overhaul of the criminal justice and prison system – a system steeped in racism – no longer pie-in-the sky, but something that can be done in the foreseeable future?

All these things are within reach now!

Election Day 2008...

"Today, Americans decide on whether, in the words of Barack Obama last week, to 'fundamentally transform the United States of America.'

That is really what this election is about, even though most of those voting for Barack Obama do not want to fundamentally transform America. That is Barack Obama’s and the Democratic Party’s agenda."

They listed the New York Daily News a lot there, owned by Mortimer Zuckerman -

"In addition to his publishing and real-estate interests, Zuckerman is also a frequent commentator on world affairs, both as an editorialist and on television. He regularly appears on MSNBC and The McLaughlin Group, and writes columns for U.S. News & World Report and the New York Daily News. Since the late 1970s, Zuckerman has donated more than $68,000 to American political candidates, with $42,700 going to Democratic politicians and $24,000 to independent interests"

I can see why they would like what he has to say about FOX News, he and Murdoch have gone round and round for years.

Here's Obama's "Communication Director", Anita Dunn, praising mass-murderer Mao Tse Tung and his communist revolution before an audience of graduating ** high-schoolers**! (St. Andrews Episcopal school at the Washington National Cathedral). A video link is provided at the end of this post.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Anita Dunn: "The third lesson and tip actually comes from two of my favorite political philosophers, Mao Tse Tung and Mother Teresa. Not often coupled with each other, but the two people that I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point, which is: You're going to make choices. ... But here's the deal: These are your choices; they are no one else's.

"In 1947, when Mao Tse Tung was being challenged within his own party on his own plan to basically take China over, Chiang Kai-Shek and the nationalist Chinese held the cities, they had the army. ... They had everything on their side. And people said 'How can you win? How can you do this against all of the odds against you?'

"And Mao Tse Tung says, 'You fight your war and I'll fight mine.' You don't have to accept the definition of how to do things. ... You fight your war, you let them fight theirs. Everybody has their own path."..."

[The following is NOT from Anita Dunn. It's from the author of the linked CNS News article...]

Policies implemented under Mao Tse Tung, including the civil war, the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution, and persecution in Tibet, among other policies, led to death of an estimated 65 million people, according to The Black Book of Communism (Harvard University Press), which is considered by scholars as one of the best sources on communist atrocities.

Mao also outlawed religion and sent at least 2.5 million people to “re-education camps,” called “laogai,” which were similar to the slave-labor camps in the Gulag of the Soviet Union. An estimated 1,000 laogai reportedly are still in operation today

Van Jones became a revolutionary communist following the 1992 L.A./Rodney King Riots (58 dead)

And it was, like, "This is what I need to be a part of." I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary.'..."

From David Horowitz's FrontpageMag.com /DiscoverTheNetworks.org:

"Throughout its history, one of RCP's [Revolutionary Communist Party] principal objectives has been to foment civil unrest in the United States. The most notable example of such efforts occurred on April 29, 1992, when RCP members looted and trashed the downtown and government districts of Los Angeles, triggering the infamous Rodney King riots. During the days immediately preceding the violence, RCP -- which maintained close ties to the L.A. gangs known as the Crips and the Bloods -- had circulated throughout South Central Los Angeles a leaflet featuring a statement by RCP National Spokesman Carl Dix, titled 'It's Right To Rebel' -- a quote popularized by Mao Zedong.

Encouraged by Dix, RCP activists helped lead the riots that would leave 58 people dead, more than 2,300 people injured, some 5,300 buildings burned, and $1 billion in property damaged or destroyed. On the ten-year anniversary of the rioting, RCP member Joseph Veale fondly recalled the violence as 'the most beautiful, the most heroic civil action in the history of the United States.'"

If MoveOn goes after the sponsors, it's a big loser. It's one thing to go after a certain celebrity or program, but to go after an entire network is just not sane.

The network has the resources to make THEMSELVES the story. The second anyone moves against the entire network, just makes it open season on investigative reporting about MoveOn.

They surely don't want to have that bright of a spotlight focused on them.

It will backfire, and BIG.

This is a losing strategy. No, no, a stupid strategy. Conservatives waste a lot of time attacking the “liberal media,” but at least we don’t pretend our own media is pure and innocent. Yeah, Fox News is always calling themselves “fair and balanced,” but that’s a marketing ploy. And they’re not part of the conservative movement, anyway, even if they house conservatives commentators and bend our way. The same way CNN and MSNBC aren’t exactly part of the socialist movement, though they house libs and bend that way.

The point is, we’ve been at the media criticism game for a while, and we do it better. Most importantly, Republican officials don’t participate. At least, not to the point that they condemn and boycott whole networks. That’s stupid.

LOL, politics is a blast now. Clinton 1993+1994 never tried attacking Rush. Although FNC is a bigger problem to Obama than Rush was, because of an even more diverse audience.

FNC needs to keep on saying ‘we invited XXX on the show to defend their position, but they declined”

Some on MSNBC and CNN are not happy about the WH doing this war stuff. They realize who will be the winner, not them!

I don't understand what the Obamunists are complaining about. Fox News has a lot of lefty contributors. There's Geraldo, Juan Williams, Bob Beckle, Alan Colmes, Lanny Davis, Susan Estrich, Ellis Henican, Kirsten Powers, and this "Black Liberation" (communist revolutionary) jerk below...

Who would plaster his Twitter page with police mug shot photos of convicted cop-killer Assata Shakur? Fox News contributor Marc Lamont Hill did. At least until David Horowitz and Accuracy in Media took notice and wrote about it. Now the page features photos of boxing great Muhammad Ali. Hill's MySpace page is also gone.

There are other changes as well. The tributes to Shakur and black racist Khallid Muhammad, known as "America's Black Hitler," have disappeared from his web pages. The articles were saved, however, and can be found here.

“The network has the resources to make THEMSELVES the story.”

LOL Obama’s already doing it for them! I’ll bet viewership skyrockets when everyone tunes in to Beck to see what the fuss is all about!

Sponsors want to sell their goods to people. Thats the idea of putting them on tv. They pay megabucks to do this. They want as many people possible to be potential customers.

Taking that into consideration, where would you want your commerical to play..where nobody sees it? Or where a whole lotta people see it?

I wouldnt worry about commericials if I were fox.

The only reason this is happening is that Fox News will not toe the line. Anyone who doesn’t slavishly love the Administration will be attacked.

Well if they consider Fox News to be an “entertainment channel” than they wouldn’t be required to be “balanced” like ABC,CBS, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, etc. under any equal access proposals now would they.

More people, who actually vote with their brains, will watch FOX News just to see what all the fuss is about.

What I’m waiting for is a Democrat to have a pang of conscience regarding this Marxist that they’ve put in power. But I’m not holding my breath.

Democrat strategist Pat Caddell has already voiced extreme concern over the current administration's tactics and goals, and especially their targeting of Fox. He said it's worse than what happened with Nixon during Watergate. I give him a lot of credit for stepping outside the party line.

Undercover agent Larry Grathwohl discusses the Weather Underground's post-revolution governing plans for the United States:

Larry Grathwohl:

"I asked, 'well what is going to happen to those people we can't reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?' and the reply was that they'd have to be eliminated. And when I pursued this further, they estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these reeducation centers. And when I say 'eliminate,' I mean 'kill.' Twenty-five million people. I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees, from Columbia and other well-known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people. And they were dead serious."

"It was at the Chicago home of [Bill] Ayers and [Bernardine] Dohrn that Obama, then an up-and-coming 'community organizer,' had his political coming out party in 1995. Not content with this rite of passage in Lefty World — where unrepentant terrorists are regarded as progressive luminaries, still working 'only to educate' — both Obamas tended to the relationship with the Ayers."

From Investor's Business Daily (IBD), August 27, 2008:

"Ayers, now a tenured distinguished professor of education at UIC, works to educate teachers in socialist revolutionary ideology, urging that it be passed on to impressionable students.

One of Ayer's descriptions for a course called 'Improving Learning Environments' says prospective K-12 teachers need to 'be aware of the social and moral universe we inhabit and ... be a teacher capable of hope and struggle, outrage and action, teaching for social justice and liberation.

The Annenberg papers are quite extensive — 132 boxes containing 947 file folders with 70 linear feet of material. They undoubtedly contain more surprises regarding Obama's relationship with Ayers, one of many relationships Obama has sought to hide.'..."

The RCP calls for the armed overthrow of the U.S. government...

From the website of the Revolutionary Communist Party (revcom.us or rwor.org) :

"Create Public Opinion, Seize Power: We are preparing minds and organizing forces for the time when there is a major crack in the system, whenever it comes and wherever it comes from: an opening that makes it possible to bring the future Revolutionary Army of the Proletariat (R.A.P.) into the field and wage a revolutionary armed struggle that actually has a chance of winning.

And we have said that building our party itself is the most important part of organizing forces for revolution. This is true now, and it is true looking forward to the creation of that future R.A.P. and the waging of that armed struggle.":
