Looking at the categories, makes me wonder if ACORN is involved:
COMMUNITY CRUSADER Creating solutions to a local problem or social issue
DEFENDING THE PLANET Innovative efforts to preserve and protect the environment
PROTECTING THE POWERLESS Advancing the cause of human or equal rights
and for that key age group, 14 thru 40 according to Zeke:
YOUNG WONDER Outstanding achievement by a person 25 or under

I vote for Glenn Beck as hero of the year. He’s uncovering political corruption in the highest office of the land and in the US Congress.
Where do we nominate someone other than the CNN picks?

Seven of ten are minority group members. The other three are white guys.
Aren’t there any white female heroes out there?

I'm sure the rest of the heros are rated based on how Obama-like they are. If B.O. were on the list, there would be no point to HAVING a list.
He's just that awesome.

Your wish will be granted, sir.
Communist news network created the award and have decided that it will go to the dear leader. They just have to go through the motions of pretending to have a contest.
Just another participation award.

Would have liked to have seen some soldiers on the list, but it is CNN. I actually read some of the profiles and voted for the double-amputee. This kid got both legs cut off by a boat propeller. It’s tough to complain about things in my life when I read about something like that.
To: gunnyg
I am surprised Kim Jong Il wasn’t on the damn CNN “heroes” list.

The true definition of “hero” was represented by the incredibly brave action of US Air pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger and his flight crew by saving 155 lives in the Hudson River crash landing.
