A&E was one of the few networks in our original cable package when it first bacame available in our city in ‘82. They used to do, well, arty shows. Stage plays, high-end stuff. Even as a kid, when not watching sitcoms on the networks or on WGN or WTBS, I’d see quality productions like “Sunday in the Park with George” with Bernadette Peters or Jason Robards, Jr. doing “You Can’t Take It With You” or even more robust fare like “Sweeney Todd” with Angela Lansbury. Now it seems it’s just reduced to total filth or crime shows. It ain’t the ‘80s anymore when Hasselhoff was worth watching when he acted opposite a car named KITT. :-(
