Faith Groups Sic Obama Admin on Fox, Limbaugh, Beck Savage, Dobbs Over 'Anti-Immigrant Hate Speech'
Monday, October 19, 2009 | Kristinn

The Fox News Channel and conservative and right-leaning libertarian talk radio hosts Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage and Lou Dobbs are being targeted for federal investigations by a coalition of religious groups for so-called anti-immigrant hate speech.

The So We Might See Coalition is sponsoring what they call a media fast, asking participants to abstain from violence on television and radio from October 19th through the 26th.

The coalition is leading a petition drive asking the Federal Communications Commission initiate an investigation in to "hate speech in the media."

The coalition is also calling for the 1993 report entitled, The Role of Telecommunications in Hate Crimes, be updated by the National Telecommunications and Information Agency.

The coalition lists its members as "U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops, the Islamic Society of North America, United Methodist Communications, United Church of Christ, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and several other faith groups."

Noticable absent from the interfaith roster of Catholic, Islamic, Methodist, Lutheran and Presbyterian groups is the mention of any Jewish groups in the coalition.

The coalition describes its efforts as being conducted in "support of the Latinos Against Hate Speech campaign, organized by the National Hispanic Media Coalition."

A press release issued Friday announcing the effort targets the radio hosts by name, but indicts Fox News by mocking its 'fair and balanced' slogan:

Says the Rev. J. Bennett Guess, executive director of the United Church of Christ’s Office of Communication, Inc., "We are asking people to seek other forms of programming and intellectual stimulation, and to reflect on what it means to purposefully distance oneself from violence as entertainment, especially hate speech against immigrants that is being billed as unbiased, ‘fair and balanced’ news."

Websites for the campaign are:

www.MediaViolenceFast.org and www.SoWeMightSee.org

The press release was issued by Church World Service, which says it works with the federal government to resettle refugees nationwide.

Interesting...isn't that the exact date range of 0bama's "Submit & Serve" propaganda bum rush on the networks?

Coincidence?

Maybe after their media fast, they can all go and sit in a boiling hot sweat lodge! I think that would be a great thing for them to do. Accomplish a lot!

I believe America is hurtling closer and closer to a real war within its own borders by people with differing political views.

The title contains a lie...or false premise:anti-immigrant hate speech

The correct phrase should read: "helpful facts about illegal aliens"

I believe that if someone from another country wishes to relocate, live, attend the US universities and colleges, work for US companies, become a US citizen, they should accomplish this by going through the proper and legal channels as per US laws which are spelled out by the government.

Does this make me guilty of hate speech?

I’m opposed to people coming into this country illegally. Most nations in the World that can control their borders have laws restricting immigration. Sue me.

Let me state it clearly, as a Christian: these groups do not speak for me. My guess is that they’ve never put the issue before their congregants, and that those congregants don’t know that this is being done in their name.

It’s become so convoluted in this nation that Sheriff Joe could be targeted for enforcing Arizona immigration law. Activist groups appear to be in tight advisory connections with this administration. Memories of what happened to border patrol agents Ramos and Compeon should remain fresh in our memories.

Wow. It’s a good thing these right wingers don’t use the “f-word,” else the government couldn’t touch them. After all, the First Amendment absolutely guarantees the right to use the “f-word.” Too bad it doesn’t guarantee the right to criticize the government as well! [/sarcasm]

At this point it is safe to say that anything pushed by an “Hispanic Advocacy” group will promote illegal Hispanic “immigration” as being more important than US laws and customs, and now even more important than freedom of speech.

Hispanic superiority over law, customs, borders, language, and freedoms, and using YOUR money to do it ... get used to it, Gringos.

I don't see the National Association of Evangelicals on this list. They recently voted unanimously to support amnesty. In fact, Leith Anderson, President of the NAE, testified before the Senate Immigration Subcommittee in favor of amnesty.

The NAE is still reeling from the revelation of the gay/drug scandal surrounding former NAE President Ted Haggard. This organization has clearly joined the other side. They are hopelessly compromised by the likes of Rick Warren, Brian McLaren, etc. who cynically use evangelical Christianity to promote their leftist worldview.

Been a Rush listener for many years.

Do NOT ever remember him making any anti-illegal remarks per se.

It is a total disgusting shame that there are ANY groups in the USA or any country that are willing to advocate for Illegal persons invading any country and then not being punished for doing so.

Most of the countries they are coming from do NOT allow the same behavior there.

These church denomination leaders are the same that are in the National Council of Churches. That group recently was led for several years by a former Dem Congressman. It is a very liberal group. I would be VERY surprised to find any of these church leaders believing in the divine inspiration of the Bible, or the resurrection or the virgin birth of Christ. Their true religion is the “social gospel” of liberalism.

If this is diversity in action or a religious movement, Oh man.. a little secret, the left hates itself and acts out its rage at those who would gladly embrace them if they would just rein it in. Rage devours its host.

The only “hate speech” going on is from supporters of Illegal Aliens.

Illegal Alien Amnesty supporters are ANTI-AMERICAN BIGOTS.

By supporting with some of the most hate-filled Hispanic Ku Klux Klan racist types of groups...these “churches” are doing nothing but promoting misery and undue economic burden on American citizens and legal immigrants

People who go to churches that promote Illegal Alienism should find another church....let these churches get their new members from the illegal alien community

I’m beginning to think it past high time to start going after those churches who continue to cross over into the political arena all the while accepting non-profit or not for profit tax exempt status. If they want to play that game then let them pay for it. After all fair is only fair.
