Sen. John McCain -- a fervent sponsor of immigration reform -- is once again being dragged into the messy border war of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who is defying the Obama administration's ban on his highly controversial illegal immigrant sweeps in the Phoenix area.
Last week, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano excluded Arpaio -- reviled by Hispanic advocacy groups for alleged racial profiling-- from a joint federal program that gives local law enforcement agencies the power to dragnet for illegals.
McCain's office wouldn't say whether he supported or opposed the move. But late Friday, McCain wrote Napolitano asking for an explanation, asking for her to "please provide the rationale for terminating the Task Force Model in Maricopa County and the criteria that made the Maricopa County Sheriffs office ineligible to continue in the Task Force Model."

It’s CONSERVATIVE TIME ... McLAME’s up for RE ELECTION, I think ... Please SOMEBODY in AZ ... Primary that RINO into retirement??
Here's an idea: Give McCain's Senate seat to Joe Arpaio.
Ban that, Janet.
If a group of anybody is in Maricopa county and Walking NORTH.. I’d be checking them out.. don’t matter if they white, black, green or purple with pink polkadots.
As for as the WHINING Hispainass groups ... we are not Killing them... just sending them home... so shut up before we change our minds.
Arpaio said his department was responsible for investigating arresting and detaining 33,000 suspected illegal immigrants, which represents about 25 percent of the nations illegal immigrant arrests
/////////////////
So if we just hire 100 like him we can arrest 3,300,000.
Homeland Security would be out of a job quick. So of course, they had better stop Joe.
Hear, hear.
we need a Joe Arpaio out here in Hawaii
we are totally awash in wetbacks and they ain’t swimmin in.
What happened to the Federal laws about boarding US commercial
carrier aircraft with fake ID ? Isn’t that a federal offense ?
And?....how can they pick and choose what laws to ignore and which to enforce ? Especially if they are ignoring laws that genuine terrorists could exploit .
Well, of course he does. But since he wants a bunch of (legal) voters in Arizona to vote for him, he may pretend otherwise for the next year and a month.
After that, he will be back to being: Juan McCain; Amnestista Advogado
John McCain: the Manchurian Candidate’s Manchurian Candidate.
Thanks for giving us the Obama presidency you RINO POS.
McCain’s a stinking pile.
“we are not Killing them”.
We should have military on our southern border just as Mexico has military on their so0uthern border.
Illegals cross into our country, shoot em.
Sure would halt the flow pretty quickly.
I have repeatedly asked my congresscritters a simple question: “What laws do I get to break?”
The response was .......
I’m still waiting for an answer.
I’ve been sending money to Chris Simcox. He is challenging McCain in the primary. You might remember Mr. Simcox from the Minuteman organization.
As I told Mr. Simcox on the phone a couple of months ago (he called me!!!) if Mccain doesn’t run any harder for his Senate seat than he did for president, Mr. Simcox has nothing to worry about.
Spineless RINO!
In asking for the ‘rationale’ tells me he isn’t standing against Joe, he’s standing up for Joe.
That’s what I initially thought, too ... but ... after Juan McAmnesty’s crusade for “comprehensive immigration reform”, thus I became confused!!!
Then I remembered... McLAME only becomes a Conservative when he has to get Reelected.
I’ve met both Chris and Jim Deakin. Jim is a much better candidate, no baggage like Chris. www.chrissimcox.com. google both before you throw money or support either way.
