Small business owners say they plan give California lawmakers an ear full today about how their livelihoods are being threatened by shakedown lawsuits filed over alleged ADA violations.
Mom and pop shops and other small and mid-sized businesses say a cottage industry has sprung up in the Golden State in which trial lawyers are filing lawsuits over alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and state disability access laws.

When I had a small business in San Diego we had seminars about this...Several small business owners I knew were hit hard. It’s outrageous...how do lawyers sleep at night knowing they put good people out of business.
Mine small business is in SD also.
Some of the building codes/regulations aren’t physically achievable much less financially achievable.
At this point, with all the other hassle of running a small business, if I get sued, I think I’ll just shut my doors. That’s how I feel.
When the ADA bill passed, I remember posting here on FR the statement that this bill would create a cornucopia of never ending lawsuits for bottom feeding lawyers.
Now, it has come to pass.
