Lansing, MI - Michigan has joined with dozens of other States that are seeking affirmation of personhood rights for all humans. Rep. Jim Slezack (Democrat) is the the lead sponsor of the amendment, and is cosponsored by Paul Scott, Tim Moore, Richard LeBlanc, James Bolger, Kevin Green, Rick Jones, Pete Lund, Matt Lori, John Walsh, Kenneth Kurtz, Tom McMillin, Robert Dean, Bob Genetski, Wayne Schmidt, Joe Haveman, Kevin Daley, Marty Knollenberg, Eileen Kowall, Goeff Hansen, Dudley Spade, Joel Sheltrown, and Jeff Mayes.
The Michigan Personhood Amendment states: SEC. 28. (1) EVERY HUMAN PERSON HAS A RIGHT TO LIFE, WHICH IS THE PARAMOUNT AND MOST FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT GUARANTEED UNDER THE CONSTITUTION AND LAWS OF THIS STATE.
(2) WITH RESPECT TO THE FUNDAMENTAL AND INALIENABLE RIGHT TO LIFE, THE WORD "PERSON" APPLIES TO ALL HUMAN BEINGS, IRRESPECTIVE OF AGE, RACE, GENDER, HEALTH, FUNCTION, CONDITION OF DEPENDENCY, INCLUDING PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DEPENDENCY, OR METHOD OF REPRODUCTION, FROM THE BEGINNING OF THEIR BIOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT, INCLUDING FERTILIZATION.
"It is tremendous that for the first time in Michigan Legislature history, an Amendment has been introduced to protect ALL humans no matter how small, by love and by law,” commented Cal Zastrow, Co-founder of Personhood USA.

Does this also include older americans, where the law would prevent the government from abusing them like encouraging them to die?
We should hope so But what makes us think they would obey this law any more than they obey others?
Absolutely.

That's a great point.
If we had personhood pro-life Reaganites in public office, no further amendments or laws would be needed. The Declaration of Independence, the Preamble, the Fifth and the Fourteenth Amendments, and the clear language of the constitutions of ALL fifty states would be more than sufficient.
Federal law trumps State law.
As long as Roe v. Wade stands these state laws have no power.
Just because one branch of government, at one level of government, has abrogated their sworn oath of office - which includes the securing of “the blessings of liberty TO POSTERITY” - that doesn’t let any other sworn officer of government, in any other branch or at any other level of government, from the obligation to keep their sworn oath.
The judicial supremacist fallacy is killing us. Literally.
It only “stands” if we the people let it stand.

Although MI does have a somewhat stronger pro-life history than other blue states, you could knock me over with a feather. I’m stunned.
A challenge to this law, should it pass, could overturn Roe by leaving the question to the individual states. Granholm would never sign this bill into law, but she terms out next year.
Prayers for the good folks of MI working to pass this.
What a CROCK of grunge!
The writers of our Declaration and Constitution covered all that. Would that our “legislators” would read them!
