The media is all over the new Siena poll which shows Dede Scozzafava's support collapsing in New York's 23rd Congressional District. This is a special election in November in a district that has elected a Republican since 1871. But party bosses saw fit to nominate a woman who is not only pro-gay marriage and pro-abortion, she has an economic record that has lead the Club For Growth and the American Conservative Union to target her and endorse the Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman, in spite of Newt Gingrich's endorsement....
What's at stake in this race? As Michelle Malkin has written, it's not just the heart and soul of the GOP, but its brain. Whose idea was it to nominate an extreme ACORN-friendly liberal for this seat? Their silly heads should roll.

and when this lefty goes down in flames the GOP will conclude that conservatism failed. They are that stupid.
So, they don’t even have the excuse that this is a “liberal” district. They just love RINOs and pro-aborts, as Steele among others has repeatedly demonstrated.
The Conservative Party in New York has only one purpose: to keep the Republicans more or less honest. They don’t like to split with the Republican Party in NY, and only do so when they must.
This is one of those cases when they must. Because this candidate is just obscene.
The RNC just released a boatload of money to support this leftie. Any thoughts on what the RNC ought to be told when they call this weekend?
“Scozzafava” Cool name. I think it translates to ‘Move over beans.’ Not sure.
Even Michael Medved, a kinda big tenter and rabid anti-third party guy, said this is an exception where the third party conservative candidate (1) should be supported and (2) can actually win.
lol
Makes you wonder if we have one Party or two in America?

Liberal "Republican" Communist chump.

Conservative Republican champ.
Everyone, please send a few sheckels to Hoffman!!
This is a microcosm of why the GOP is where it is today.
Beyond disgusting, it is so discouraging as to make me wonder if there is even remotely any hope.

the oldest con in the world is Good cop-Bad cop.....thats the Republican-Democrat con...the Republicrat Con.......
I imagine so since it is being played by cons.
Another reason why I don’t call myself Republican anymore. I am 48 and since I was 12 I supported the Republican Party. McCain ended that on Super Tuesday last year.
Who does Sarah back?
I regret having supported Dole, Bush I, and Bush II. I wasn’t going to continue that trend by supporting McKook and was happy to vote for Bob Barr. I have given NOTHING to the RNC since 2000 (or maybe 2002).
Steele had nothing to do with this nomination. I believe it was the local (corrupt) county chairman in that isolated district who nominated Dede because of her husband's money and contracting ties.

True, although they(the Conservative party) has endorsed Dede in the past).
This is one of those cases when they must. Because this candidate is just obscene.
The Conservative party gave her conservative ratings of between 45% and 60% in past years. This year, they gave her a rating of (yes it's obscene)15%.

You know Dede must be bad for Medved to support Huffman. We all need to support Huffman because he is a conservative and to show the RNC they cannot shove a Rino down our throats. We need to shove Dede up the RNC’s rearend.
I’m really scratching my head over Scozzafava. As I posted in another thread, I wasn’t expecting a NY Republican to be Barry Goldwater. But after looking over her stances at Project Vote Smart, I’m not seeing much to shout about at all.. She’s to the left of every moderate Republican I can think of on nearly every issue. That includes Senator Snowe, who at least supports the death penalty.

This is New York and people are surprised? They have no true Republican Party there, just superliberal democrats and regular liberal democrats, called RINOs in normal states.
No, Steele is head of the RNC, which doesn’t pick congressional candidates. But he has recently said, loudly and publicly and several times, that he supports pro-abortion Republican politicians. That doesn’t help.
In some districts you may need such people, but they should keep quiet about it. And so should Steele.
The Conservative Party leaders in NY really don’t want to split the vote if they can help it. For instance, when Rudy was running against hillary, they didn’t require him to pretend to be pro-life or pro-family, since he seemed to be the only person who could beat her. All they asked was that Rudy should KEEP QUIET during the campaign about his known support for partial birth abortion. Rudy stupidly refused. Then he had to back out with marital and health problems, so the issue never came to the crunch.
We really, really don’t need pro-abortion candidates from districts where a pro-lifer could easily get elected. It weakens the party and violates the principle that conservatives should have three legs (metaphorically). Because we need that coalition to win on the national level.
I wish. They, the Republican elite, are evil just like the Democrats and working hand in hand to destroy the country.
That I’m now an Independent
and donated to her opponent.
Luckily, we have two diametrically opposed parties in America: The Communist Democrats, and the Socialist Republicans.
What is worse is that the Dems will win a seat they should not have. Only a miracle would get Hoffman elected. So with Dede dead, the Dem dials in at that district. Yipe.
Another way to put it, HOT vs. NOT!
Re#19 It worked. Scozzafava dropped out today. ;^)
