SURPRISE, Ariz. — An Arizona sheriff known for cracking down on people who are in the country illegally launched a crime and immigration sweep in northwestern metro Phoenix on Friday, a half day after officials in Washington limited his powers to make federal immigration arrests.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose sweeps have led to allegations of racial profiling, said the rebuff from Washington won't stop him. He said he can still arrest immigrants under a state smuggling law and a federal law that gives all local police agencies more limited power to detain suspected illegal immigrants.
"It doesn't bother me, because we are going to do the same thing," said Arpaio, whose deputies had arrested 16 people by Friday evening on unspecified charges. "I am the elected sheriff. I don't take orders from the federal government."

Well at least in Arizona, the local authorities do something. Here in New York NO ONE ASKS about your immigration status at all.
In fact, it is considered impolite to even inquire.
NO LOCAL AUTHORITY WILL EVEN COOPERATE WITH THE FEDS as they don’t consider it their job.
All of us should follow the lead of this great American: Defy this government, defy their directives. They do not have the resources to do a damn thing about it, and in the handful of situations where they decide to come down hard on someone to ‘send a message’, FIGHT BACK with all we have. Including with our 2nd Amendment rights. We either make a stand now, or we have a much tougher problem later.

Me knee jerk? Look in the mirror. I never for a moment said I did not support Sheriff Joe—I do. However, if the Feds are against this, as they have so stated, what is left to do? You need to chill and read before puking the crap you just did.

You are right on the money. And the immigration issue is just one of many where the vast majority of the country’s populace thinks similarly. We need to stand up, as individuals and collectively. We need to stop relying on sellout pussies like our weasel representatives in Congress, they are part of the system working against us. Screw them, do this ourselves, every day in every way.
Your post was clearly one from a cowering perspective, one where your reaction was to fear the DOJ reaction. Then you get called on it and get embarrassed. Screw you, and grow some balls. We can’t have any wusses on our side, because this situation is going to get very aggressive in the coming years.

I’ve heard that sheriffs have a lot of power in US. But if the Feds challenge the sheriff, it will give energy to “We the people” and O does not want that! He wants us to be complacent

It is clear that Sheriff Arpaio absolutely recognizes his authority. He is the highest directly elected law enforcement official in the country, and he knows it.
If the feds send in troops/marshalls to curtail his authority, it is only further evidence of federal government tyranny.
If the feds want war, then they just may get it this time, unlike previous "standoffs"(Ruby Ridge, Waco for instance). It will be interesting to watch federal troops made up of some of American and Arizona citizens and sometimes children of American and Arizona citizens firing upon their own...in front of TV cameras live on FoxNews.
The tyranny is growing and can only end up pitting brother against brother, and sometimes sons and daughters against fathers?

Agreed. Sherriff Joe is daring Obama and Napolitano and their criminal associates to send in the troops. Because if they do, they will pay a heavy political price.
This isn’t Selma, Alabama. This isn’t school desegregation on behalf of citizens who are discriminated against (by Democrats). This is illegal aliens.

If Obama surrounded himself with people like (and including) Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Americans would have substantially more confidence and admiration in his decision making process. Obama has no idea how beloved Sheriff Joe is to not only the Phoenix area, but to all Americans who value that their laws are upheld and their country’s sovereignty is treasured. What we got instead with the appointment of Janet Napolitano and Obama’s path to amnesty for people here illegally AND THEIR FAMILIES STILL IN MEXICO, is more fuel to the devastation of American city and federal financial stability, distrust of democrats (and some republicans) for their purposeful intent to ignore the will of the people, and the enormous effect it will have upon the already gigantic number of unemployed Americans.
Call us to arms Joe.
