Really? I thought “Tropic Thunder” was hilarious. A group of actors poking fun at themselves and other hollywood stereotypes. It was pretty entertaining.

Just a bunch of nuts. The 1970’s were very scary for all. It’s a rehash of BS through multimedia to freak people out.

“Jack Black is one of the least funny comedians around. Will Ferrell is another. How and why these 2 continue to get work is beyond me.”

I mostly agree with you about Will Ferrell, but Jack Black really does have talent, I thought he was excellent in School of Rock. It was on the strength of his performance in School of Rock that Peter Jackson cast him for King Kong, although I didn’t think he did nearly as well in that film, as the material simply didn’t really suit him. I thought Jack Black was good in Kung Fu Panda as well, although I didn’t like him much in Nacho Libre.

Clearly Jack Black was doing some sort of cheap promo. I’m far more troubled by members of the audience that just jumped in and followed.

They honored child molester Micheal Jackson... what a shock

And they are defending child rapist Roman Polanski.

I’m not into Jack’s “normal” stuff, but when there’s music involved (like his Tenacious D or School of Rock) I really like it. And having been a metal fan in the 80s and an RPG player before that, I really really like him poking fun at the “it’s satanic” crowd.

So now we can satirize Mohommad but not Satan? Just want to keep my players card updated...

I just don’t find him funny. I am sure he was just poking fun (as he saw it) about the Satan thing. I just don’t find him funny. Same thing with Will Ferrell.

Really, probable the worse thing I have seen this decade.

Just a reminder...Jack is a comedian. That said, he should probably be careful. Jesus would forgive him for praying to Satan. Satan, on the other hand, might not be as forgiving about him welshing on the deal.

Will Ferrell annoys me when he’s doing his usual shtick, but he was excellent in Stranger Than Fiction (great movie). Jack’s funny when there’s a guitar player near him.

This couldn’t be some jibe at the sindustry?

It's probably just humor. He's probably just parodying actual prayers to Satan.

How else do you explain some people's success in the music industry? :O

First: I respect your right to believe as you believe, to worship as you see fit. However, I respectfully reserve the right to my opinion and the freedom to express it in the Great Country of the United States of America

To all of you guys and gals God does not exist! I am an Agnostic (former Baptist and later a member of the Church of Christ - a legalist view of the Bible).

Answer this:

Faith - How come everything that could possibly prove God exists has to be accepted by faith and tangible proof does not exist? What, so you can make the choice on your own (convenient answer as with all things to do with the Christian Bible)

You can’t use the existence of the Bible as proof. The Bible is a book canonized by a group of religious leaders of the day commanded by King James to come to an agreement in order to calm unrest between the religions. Not to mention all of the money generated by “guilty souls trying to make amends any way they can.

Let’s not forget about the religious texts left out of the Bible. Not sure What I am talking about read more -—> http://gbgm-umc.org/umw/bible/outside.stm

************************************************
EXAMPLES of what causes me Great Doubt:

Cain and Abel - Who were the people Cain was afraid of when he was being sent away and where the heck did they come? If God created man - Adam and later woman - Eve who created the other people that Cain so feared????

Lot (Sodom and Gomorrah) - Conveniently the only witness to God’s Wrath of two cities destroyed by Fire and Brimstone was Lot and his 2 daughters. So if his family was so righteous why did his daughters later get him drunk and have sex with him???? I have been stone drunk during my lifetime and I can tell you that I would never have sex with my daughter no matter how drunk I was. So this story is suspect in my book...

Noah’s Ark - Really, 2 of every animal give me a break.

Noah’s Ark - Mysteriously absent!

Moses - Conveniently erased from Egyptian History

Tower of Babel - Conveniently wiped off of the map

Ten Commandments from Mount Sinai - Where is Mount Sinai nobody really knows what mount that really is... Lots of theories but again real convenient that it was mysteriously forgotten

Ark of the Covenant (Ten Commandments) again mysteriously absent and anyone who dared touch it was struck down by God. Makes you not want to validate its existence

Jesus - “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Because you were just a man and the stories of miracles mere exaggerations of a great man that preached of peace and love (Nothing wrong with that I might add - I am being serious).

“Angel” - “Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. - Convenient cover story perpetrated by his followers to keep his message alive

Why do you think that the Jews didn’t accept him, because there will never be a fulfillment of the prophecies that were made (Not because he wasn’t Grand enough - What everyone would think a King was).

*************************************

Let’s face it. It is in the nature of man to use the standard “Higher Power” explanation of anything that he can’t explain. Look at the history of all societies across the globe and there is a common thread - use of some form of a God to explain why and how everything works if it can’t be figured out.

So this sounds pretty gloom... well we are all in this together and there is nothing out there that is going to save us. We are going to have to save each other.... If we focus on being good people and caring about each other instead of religion splitting society into a million pieces. We might actually get something accomplished. This is what John Lennon wrote about in his song Imagine. Read it and you may find that it makes a little sense.

“Imagine there’s no Heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

Chorus:
You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world”

Back to Science

If the world is 4000 years old try to explain Dinosaurs. Ohhh... so you are going to use the carbon dating argument. Let’s give it an accuracy of +/- 20% and you still can’t explain it away.

Lucy - http://archaeology.about.com/od/lterms/qt/lucy.htm

Ardi - http://www.euronews.net/2009/10/02/ardi-could-be-the-oldest-human-ancestor/

Hey, I really don’t want to think I evolved from some primitive apelike human either but it’s time to face reality... We really did.

OK if you have read this far you are one of three things...

1. Pissed off beyond comprehension - and hoping to find an address where you can come and kill me. If this is the case then you really need to take a look at what kind of Christian you really are. I can assure you God is not talking to you telling you to eliminate me (an evil in the world) and if you heard him tell you that please go see your local Mental Hospital because odds are you are wacked in the head

2. Determined to address my points with firm Biblical facts that will assuage my doubts. Please Do. I really am agnostic and if I am wrong I will be more than happy to admit it

3. You are curious due to the fact that I have some valid points. The Bible says “Seek and ye shall find” so truly seek, truly find and honestly answer the questions above. If you are still a believer then I salute you and I am interested in what you found.

********************************************************
********************************************************
All of this being said... Leave Jack Black alone. He is funny as “hell” and he is making fun of the Satan Worshipers and previous beliefs by some of the public that People have sold their soul to the devil for success in the music industry. You can’t sell something to a mythical evil now can you....? It’s all crap either way.

Worry about yourself before you go casting stones at others. “Do not judge lest ye be judged”

I don’t see the humour in Tropic Thunder; what I see is vulgarity trying to pass itself off as humour. It is too easy to mix up these terms today. Jack Black, though maybe funny is some movies, is part of that mess.

Joe, I agree with you. Vulgarity as humor is pointless in most cases. I don’t think anyone saw the humor in Tropic Thunder... It is the worst movie I have seen in as long as I can remember.
