David Checketts, an investor and owner of sports teams, approached me in late May about investing in the St. Louis Rams football franchise. As a football fan, I was intrigued. I invited him to my home where we discussed it further. Even after informing him that some people might try to make an issue of my participation, Mr. Checketts said he didn't much care. I accepted his offer.

Rush is right ... once again
Good job, Rush!
Take ‘em to the cleaners, Rush. Hit them where it hurts.
I loathe the media. Absolutely and completely. With gusto.
Wait, did I mention that I loathe the media?
There is so much more that could have been said. But, this will do. Thanks for writing this, Rush. Now, keep gathering the evidence and Mark Levin as your lawyer, and go after these jackasses like your life depends on it. In many ways, it does- and so do the lives of good, honest, Americans who want the best for all, regardless of skin color.
Dave Checketts is widely admired in St. Louis for his work in reviving the neglected Blues franchise and other projects, but this narrative from Rush, he comes across as naive at best.
How could be have so underestimated the SO predictable response from the ignorantly destructive black racists?
Rush PING!
Checketts may be great in St.Louis, but he was a total bum/loser in NY with both the Knicks and Rangers. He’ll fit in well in NFL where mediocrity is tolerated and and accepted.
In the long run Rush will learn he escaped a bullet by not getting involved w/Checketts. In time he’ll get his team.
As stated by one web site:
NFL now stands for “Now Far Left”!
Rush, I think it’s time for you to write another book!

Liberal talker and racist Warren Ballentine mixed it up with Juan Williams on O'Reilly yesterday and gave Juan an earful of who the real racists are.
When Juan tried to defend explain that Rush had been the victim of false statements hyped by the media Ballentine told him to , "Get back on the porch!"
Umm-hmm, Checketts sounds like a real stand-up kinda guy - partnering with George Soros and all.
I think this was a leftist set up. Maybe Rush was “naive” in that he took the word of the “widely admired in St. Louis” Mr. Checketts when he knows it’s best to ‘trust but verify’. Perhaps there were circumstances that caused him to let down his guard.
You go on and ‘admire’ Mr. Checketts if you want. I’m a tad wary of him. It’s admirable that Rush wanted to participate in building up that particular team in his home state; but, I think the best thing about the deal for Rush is that it didn’t happen.
1) I didn’t say I admired Checketts personally, I said he was admired in the community.
2) The “naive” adjective was directed at Checketts not Rush.
3) Last I heard the alleged Soros link has been shown to be without merit.
So do you think Checketts was in on this “leftist set-up”. Why would he do that?
Sorry about that. I thought that I may have misread your intended meaning when I went to check out some of your previous posts.
If the Soros info has been proven to be inaccurate, perhaps it is less a probability that he was part of a set up. I’m not doubting you, but I’d like a link to the info for my own satisfaction.
Questions still remain, imo, about why he would assure Rush that all had been cleared, and then not take a stand when the obvious happened as Rush had warned that it would happen.
Checketts rolled pretty quickly for someone who has been through similar transactions. It just smells to me. But, maybe he was duped too, or maybe he was afraid of the Obama thugs populating the NFL.
Either way, the whole thing stinks. I won’t spend a dime on the NFL, or spend a second watching it anymore.
Here’s a link dismissing the Soros-Checketts link.

As I said in my original post, Checketts is AT BEST naive. I would also say he is somewhat cowardly as well.
And while not defending his failure to stand with Rush, I think this is a Point A - Point B thing with him. The St. Louis Rams franchise has suffered from distant, disinterested ownership from the beginning. That the team is now also the worst in the NFL, further increases the vulnerability of the team to move elsewhere. Checketts is trying to solidify the team’s future in St. Louis and the Rush thing was becoming a distraction. Yes he was warned and yes he is not inexperienced in these sorts of dealing. Very disappointing.
I’ll assume you are referring to my previous post about Checketts(???), or perhaps you are speaking more broadly? I made those not to defend him, but to provide a bit of local context as to his actions.
I share your disdain for the NFL, and increasingly pro sports in general, dominated as they are by ignorant racist thugs. If that’s the way they want it, let blacks spend the money and support their own.
The truth is libs think anybody, and not just Rush, who makes fun of black people is a racist. Case closed. It wouldn’t matter if Rush hadn’t played “Barack the Magic Negro” or not. The simple fact is Rush doesn’t pay respect to and bow down to p.c. liberal conformity. That makes him a “racist” in their twisted eyes.
In this brouhaha, why hasn’t anybody yet spoken of “political footballs”?
"Some of the confusion over Soros involvement likely emerged because former Soros fund managers run Towerbrook Financial, the hedge fund that invested with Checketts in the Blues."
Guess I've become cynical about some things, but that association with Soros is still a bit too close for comfort, imo.
When I said "check out some of your previous posts", I meant that I went to your forum posts to get an idea of your overall mindset regarding Rush and this matter.
RE: your explanation about Checketts' failure to stand with Rush, I can see your point about the vulnerabilities. And, admittedly, I've looked at it more from the political angle than the business one.
But,I'm not yet totally convinced, because the political nature of this smear is obvious. Someone leaked the info about Rush's involvement. It would be interesting to know who leaked it.
Maybe time will tell.
They will never learn. The more they attack Rush, the stronger he gets, and the more they attack his audience, the more it grows.
I hope they continue to attack. It only helps the conservative cause.
Go get em, Rush!
Most of you have probably seen and commented on this already, but here’s a ping anyway.
Keep fighting Rush.
Thanks for the ping!
I haden’t seen it, and thanks for the ping.
No more NFL in my home.
NFL now stands for Now Far Left!
or
Not For Limbaugh
I’d contribute a personal boycott myself, but I never followed the NFL. I guess I’ll have to continue to listen to Rush, instead.
The NFL missed a golden opportunity.

Exactly, precisely, perfectly correct.
The left's propaganda machine works. That is easy to miss if one only looks at conservative news sources, where the MSM's lies and spin are instantly identified and debunked.
What percentage of the population heard the false Limbaugh quotes? What percentage heard that he never said those words?
The left's propagandists make excellent use of that information gap.
GOEBBELS would be ENVIOUS of today’s left propaganda machine
this is about creating a lie and repeating it.
The WH is in panic mode because they don’t control beck and rush.
(oreily is still an empty suit tabloid egotist)
The NFL is DEAD.
The NFL is finished in this house.
The NFL MUST appologize to Rush.
GTH-NFL
what percentage wants to BELIEVE the lie so they don’t have to believe the truth.
Remember they BOUGHT Obama’s lies. They don’t want to admit Obama is a liar. They don’t want to admit they were wrong.
The Obama koolade voter does not want to be called a fool for not being able to see the emperor’s new clothes.
battered voter syndrome.
(aka voluntary slavery)
NFL = Nasty Flaming LIEberals!

Good luck with getting Soros-funded hollywierd trash, Jackson/Sharpton race-baiting hustlers, and overpaid no-talent Obama-worshiping felons under NFL employ to pay up to keep that little empire afloat now that we've learned no one who is pro-America needs to participate.
Well put and it's obvious to anyone who has actually listened to his show that this is what he really believes.
