In a post nine months ago, I asked the question, Will Election of Barack Obama Open Window of Truth in Home Security System TV Commercials? Today, I can report some improvement: One of the two companies highlighted in my previous report has changed its ways, while the other continues to paint an inaccurate picture of crime in the USA.
PRE-ELECTION
Prior to the election, the typical home security system commercial featured a bad guy either busting down a door or breaking a window at a home owned by a vulnerable person (i.e., a single career woman, an elderly lady or a child home alone). Because every home featured in these commercials is equipped with a home security system provided by the company paying for the spot, the commercials always end with the bad guy running away upon hearing sirens activated by the professionally-installed alarm system.
In January, I reported that 7 out of 8 of the spots produced by the nations two largest home security systems companies then known as Brinks and ADT and found on YouTube, featured Caucasian men as the bad guys whose criminal actions were foiled by the home security systems.
Citing credible statistics, I took offense to these findings:
From 1976 to 2005, blacks committed more than 52% of all murders in America. In 2006, the black arrest rate for most crimes was two to nearly three times blacks representation in the population. Blacks constituted 39.3% of all violent-crime arrests, including 56.3% of all robbery and 34.5% of all aggravated-assault arrests, and 29.4% of all property-crime arrests. Investors Business Journal, April 28, 2008
POST-ELECTION
Today, I ran a new search to find out whether either of the two companies ADT Security and Broadview Security (the new name of Brinks) had changed their ways as a result of my previous observations. As it turns out, only one did.
ADT, it seems, has moved away from the heart-pounding, crime-in-progress commercials to spots like this one that highlight the companys knowledge, technology and expertise.
Broadview Security, on the other hand, appears to have added three new spots (below), all of which feature drum roll please only fair-skinned would-be criminals.
Pay close attention to the last one as it offers a video montage of several pseudo assailants in one 30-second spot.
I would contact representatives of Broadview if I thought it might produce a reasonable explanation. Because they didnt respond last time, however, Im not going to waste my time again.

What is your point?
And,on the other side of the coin, before last November there were LOTS of black presidents in movies.
They’re politically correct.
How about the one that use a recording of a voice saying, something like “The police are on their way?” I think I’d prefer a recording of a voice sayin’ “Who’s there?” And then a recording of a shotgun being pumped! Chk, chk, clank!
A dead man is a dead man.
One thing about blood,it’s red.
I’d like a sign on my door that says “I shoot first and ask questions later”
really?
‘Id like a sign on my door that says I shoot first and ask questions later’
If you ever have to shoot, someone will try to use that sign against you.
The commercial implies it is $9.95 per month protecton from the dreaded white guy criminals.
The fine print probably says "it's $99.95 per month for all other races".
When I lived on the somewhat secluded farm, right next to the door was my final sighting-in target. 12 gauge slug gun. But I also had a gigantic Briad in the house. Good story about his home protection abilities!
I told my wife my favorite would be the woman answering the phone with .357 in hand, telling the agent to send the police and a clean up crew because the perp was bleeding out on her new white carpet.
Stereotyping white guys as criminals out of proporation to real crime statistics is what the post is about. Why would they do this? Because there is not white tribe leaders to tell them not to stereotype white men in this way but there is diversity tribal leaders to make sure no other races are protrayed as criminals in the commercials. Hence, it is only safe to protray white men in anti-social roles.
Just an observation of the Left’s race hate game having gone mainsream. We knew this and this is just someone going to the trouble to document it.
All of the criminals in Spiderman and Batman are white too.
Of course the criminals in Batman were supposed to be twisted geniuses.....
My husband said this ad gives white guys some jobs - don’t take away their jobs!
Pretend, pretend, pretend.
I've been called a racist on FR just for posting the official FBI statistics because of the revealing story it tells about Black crime.
My question...why isn't anyone doing anything about it?
You know why? Everybody is afraid of race.
