A Chester City firefighter was suspended without pay yesterday for refusing to remove an American flag sticker from his locker.
James Krapf, an 11-year veteran of the department, could face more days of suspension if he does not remove the sticker, Fire Commissioner James Johnson said.

good point. if they’re going to bash America, then its time to bash them on ALL their fronts using the same tools they use.
we should start pushing the fact that we are offended by the rainbow/pro-homo stickers, the malcom X/militant black stuff, che/mao stuff on display at work.
or how we are offended when they force us to hide our religious affiliation and religious holiday displays in schools other public areas.

personally, i’m offended by all the homo comedy and gratuitous homo scenes in movies, tv shows and commercials. very annoying.
I worked for a subsidiary of PECO which is a part of EXELON, the most PC Utility in the Country. I had the flag on my safety helmet, as did every Operator in my Department.

As long as the rule against having anything on the outside of lockers is really being enforced across the board, then I have no problem with this. As long as nobody was allowed to put an Obama campaign decal on their locker, etc. If there’s “no decorations on outsides of locker” rule that is actively enforced, then he shouldn’t have anything on the outside of his locker. If he’s allowed to have something when it’s against the rule, then others will insist they can also break the rule by having decorations of their choice, and there will be lawsuits from those who are miffed that this man’s idea of an appropriate decoration got a pass, while their own choice didn’t. It’s not like there’s an anti-flag campaign going in this department: “The flag is stitched on their uniforms, hangs on their trucks, and flies on a pole out front.” Note that this guy also had a union sticker and a sticker depicting a truck on his locker, and both of those were ordered removed as well.

The policy seems to be “no decorations on the outside of the lockers.” It’s not like it’s everything is allowed *but* the US Flag. Of course, this policy was prompted by some dummy who put up something offensive.

Oh, I see your misunderstanding. I used to have that same idea, that if I sized it down, it’s “smaller” - yeah, it’s smaller on the screen, but if you look at the properties of that particular image, it’s still 1.6 MEG.
Big, bytewise; small screenwise.
And the bytes are what count for those with slower connections (it also loads Jim’s servers).
I’m not trying to be the bandwidth police - I post a facetious image here and there as well. Just making you aware of the load and the “actual” size.
