Hah, they might start with Palin but I think they might lean toward the left in future books. They’re testing the waters.

Walmart’s price is now $9 per title, order online only. Of the 10 titles, only Palin’s looks good.

Wal-Mart is one of the left wingers who gave money to Sharpton so he could be a total racist. No more buying from Wal-mart by me.

Great! It’s not often we get a good price war these days.

Perhaps it would be worth a check to see what the extenuating circumstances of that “donation” were.

Did Sharpton do his usual shakedown act?
Or did Walmart volunteer to donate money?

Wal-Mart is one of the left wingers who gave money to Sharpton so he could be a total racist.

Most businesses are probably left wing in the same way as Wal-Mart. They react to any threat to their business, and it's only the leftist and race baiter sort who engage in that sort of blackmail now.

If conservatives organized and began to boycott businesses that react to leftist threats, they'd start ignoring the leftists. But businessman are not the place to look for any sort of moral courage or principles beyond their bottom line.

WalMart tells me it can't send any preorder books to me because of "State Restrictions", whatever those are. At first I thought that they just didn't like Sarah Palin's book, but after some testing I found I got that error on any preorder book. Other FReepers in Arkansas and Sourth Carolina had the same problem. Looks like I'll be going back to Amazon.

I had that problem, signed-in with existing log-in, verified address and ordered no problem.

You get free shipping from Amazon if you order more than $25 worth at a time. I usually wait until If have several books I want, and then order them together for the free shipping.

So that’s why Amazon is selling ‘Going Rogue for $9.00. Glad to see it...I just pre-ordered one and added ‘Arguing With idiots’ for good measure.

Did the same thing when Going Rogue was available for order a couple weeks ago. Although I ticked the "send as one shipment" box, Amazon sent Arguing with Idiots separately and said there would be no charge for shipping Going Rogue when it is released in November. By the way, I'm about 50 pages into Arguing With Idiots and it's excellent.

I wish they would drop the cost of the audio version as well. I commute 2 hours a day and listen to audiobooks during the drive. Hard to find time to actually read for enjoyment.

this is what I got from WalMart

"This item cannot be shipped to the address you entered due to state restrictions. Please go back and remove this item from your order, or enter a different shipping address."

Interesting...Maine's a nutty state since the lib flatlanders migrated up here and took over - Last year, my car/house insurance company, out of New Hampshire, had a lottery for it's clients: $250 to your oil company for fuel!

I entered and was one of the winners.

HOWEVER, Maine said we could only have $100?

They had nothing to do with the lottery - no involvement,no money spent, nada...So WTH? You'd've thought they'd've been happy for Mainers - and we had a horrendous winter last year - to've had a $250 boon -

Just to say that we took a trip to New England several years ago, and was surprised to find the locals....rude. That is until we got to Maine and stopped Belfast, I think, for the night. Used to be a chick place, I recall. Anyway, the folks we met were much politer. Next time we will fly directly to Maine.

Walmart and Amazon are more likely trying to compete with the other small time dealers that sell new books at about half the price that sell them at. Of course I really don't know about books just released, but I imagine unless Amazon and Walmart owns the printing presses they really won't have a leg up on the competition other then name recognition
