This writer (very slightly) knew Arianna Huffington a long time ago when she was a Newt Gingrich Acolyte. Then Newts political star fell and she reinvented herself. (She wouldnt remember me; she is perhaps the virtuoso social climber of our generation and I was and remain far too small a potato to be of any possible interest to her.) That was back in the days when she was launching the anti-MoveOn.org, Resignation.com, calling for Bill Clinton to resign . Times change .
Slightly later, I happened to attend a presentation that she made in the process of reinventing herself, around her book The Fourth Instinct, handsomely blurbled by Deepak Chopra, describing the dead ends we are led down when we are obsessed by the pursuit of success, wealth, and recognition. If memory serves, it was about her making us as spiritually evolved and noble as she so that she could save the Planet. Leaving her lecture, slightly bewildered, it was mildly disconcerting to find a stretch limousine idling out back by all appearances waiting for her and her very stylish entourage (and spewing CO2 out back while idling during her lecture, kind of like Al Gores private jet).
Am not the judgmental sort, but if it WAS her limo there seems to be some inconsistency between her talk and her walk. Or her ride .
Notwithstanding her critique of the pursuit of success, wealth and recognition, a little less than a year ago Arianna picked up $25 million, mostly, or all, from one presumably star-struck investor, Fred Harman at a rumored $100M implicit market valuation.

Parcbench goes bares knuckles on “the virtuoso social climber of our generation” who is publishing “Mad Magazine for liberals.” Ouch and ouch!
Fred Harman- I’m guessing that’s the husband of my RAT congresswoman, Jane.
Bump
I remember years ago Freepers from San Diego warning us about this woman just before her Husband came out of the closet.
If this was written from a leftist point of view,
I’m genuinely surprised that they mentioned her
CO2 spewing limo.
Leftists excuse other leftists of their hypocrisy
because they all view themselves as part of the
elite ruling class.
Then Newts political star fell and she reinvented herself.”
Probably her marrying that fag who didn’t make it to the Senate didn’t help her social climbing either....
Bingo.
I knew here back in those days too. She was rotten to her staff and a genuine airhead.
I suspect the “sugardaddy” bailout is more likely than the author thinks IF Soros or another of his ilk can be persuaded that the HuffPo will be useful during the 2012 elections. Also, couldn’t they reorganize as a nonprofit?
She needs to re-re-invent herself. She can get a sex change operation and then declare herself gay and black. Politically, she can become independent and pick candidates based upon their astrological signs.
And muslim.
the Po have a burn rate of maybe $1M/month
What the heck? Do they have diamond studded lap tops? Sounds like they’re stripping the company while the stripping is good.
Every time I hear Huff n Puff talk I think of this......
“Green Acres is the place to be ........................”
Why anyone would give this blubbering duck $25 million is beyond me. She comes across as a broom closet maid, has the articulation of a boxcar hobo and if she could borrow the brain of a flea, her IQ would soar 100%.
Nice blog, right on commentary.
Arriana's cult-like religious affiliations hurt Huffington's senate campaign. Also, being married to him made her a very wealthy woman.
Her marriage was a fraud just like everything else about her. She married a gay guy for money and changed her political affiliation for money. That makes her a money grubbing whore with a voice that sounds like nails on a chalkboard.
Georgia Frontiere would give her a run for her money as might Texas' own Carole Keaton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn aka "One Tough Grandma".
She and Cindy McCain would make a nice couple.
Do you remember when she use to post here? She use to seem rather conservative posting and writing stuff about the clintoons.
