Martha Coakley is a Mean Girl.
How else to explain yesterdays snide Im not going to talk to you comeback after Boston Herald State House Bureau Chief Hillary Chabot asked her about campaign finances?
The silent treatment from a U.S. Senate candidate. Like, totally high school, Martha. Meet me in the ladies for a smoke and a chat. Watch the door. This might take a while.
Heres the thing, Martha: If youre running for Massachusetts U.S. Senate seat and proclaiming to be a progressive candidate who preaches transparency in government, its a good idea to answer reporters questions.
If you cant answer a campaign question when youre acting as attorney general at a press conference, how about stepping off the podium for a second? But then, uh, youd have to actually answer the question.
Also, when youre the only female on the ballot and have sought the endorsement of womens groups and elected officials with a conviction that could only be described as religious, its unwise - politically! - to treat a working political journalist who happens to be a woman as if shes invisible.
Mean Martha got miffed yesterday at the State House when Chabot asked her about campaign finance records, a simple question that turned into an exchange that was less West Wing and more Gossip Girl.
Chabot: Can you explain why, as a Senate candidate, youre not speaking to your campaign finance records?
Mean Martha: No, thank you.
Chabot: Why cant you explain that?
Mean Martha: Im not going to talk to you about it. Anybody else have any questions? Thanks.
Did it just get chilly in here? asked another reporter standing nearby.
Yes, avoiding answers is fast becoming Mean Marthas modus operandi. Last week, she played cat and mouse with Chabot over the City Hall/Kineavy e-mails, ducking into a hotel gift shop for relief.
Coakley is running for a seat in the U.S. Senate, not senior class president. If she wants to be known as an open-minded liberal with a clean record, she needs to be accessible. And if she wants the support of women, she cant ostracize one as if shes an outcast at the junior high lunch table.
Chabot was just doing her job.
If Coakley wants the one on Capitol Hill, she better start doing hers.
Some of the comments:
—Once again, I must remind you that if you like John Kerry, you’ll love Martha! Blind ambition wed to lack of performance and all she has to do is just win one election and she’s in for life.
&&& The sad part is that she will get elected because her supporters are just like she is... arrogant, hypocritical leftists. This sad state is FULL of them.
—Is anybody really surprised??? This is exactly why we need change in MA. Martha and the rest of the crowd think they can ignore the masses and do as they please - 2010 a new Revolution in MA!!!!!
>>Martha Coakley has the usual arrogant attitude that so many politicians have in this state. Does anyone see the similarities between Martha Coakley and Tom Menino..They both feel that they are entitled to snub their nose at people In this situation Martha who feels that she is entitled to the US Senate seat merely because she is a female is an insult to all females. I applaud the Herarld reporter for holding her feet to the fire. It is imperative that these type of stories be published so that all registered voters in this state can be fully aware of what type of people they may or maynot vote for. Please keep at Ms Coakley for answers to your questions.
^^^ Unfortunately Martha Coakley only makes decisions based on how it will impact her politically. She would not get involved in anything controversial unless she is assured it reflect a positive light on her. Her decision on the Big Dig settlement has cost the citizens of Massachusetts millions, if not billions. She wouldn\’t have gotten involved in the city hall email without being dragged into it. So far she talks and there has not been any action.
Take it from me, talking to Martha Coakley is like sticking pins in your eyes.
I bet her staff turnover is huge.
I have a question for Martha Jokeley. Who tipped off ACORN that they were going to be raided by the FBI and did the FBI let you in on it?
Ironically enough there is a Joe Kennedy running for Ted’s seat, as you prob know (he was on Howie’s show)—no relation
to the Kennedy Crime Family; libertarian

“Her decision on the Big Dig settlement has cost the citizens of Massachusetts millions, if not billions.”
Yeah but but I see she is saying NSTAR shouldn’t be allowed to raise their rates next year, they should be cutting them instead.... so the fools will think she is for the little guy, I would be surprised if she doesn’t get in.
Right! Maybe there ARE enough stupid people in this state to vote him in on name alone...worked for Eddie Murphy in “The Distiguished Gentleman”.
He can’t be worse than the Rats that are running.
I’m afraid that when a liberal pol snubs a Boston Herald reporter, that’s kind of like Nancy Pelosi snubbing Rush Limbaugh or Fox News.
Her supporters will laugh and cheer. Because conservatives are evil and need to be put in their place.

"You dare ask me a question! Eat cake!"
A GOOD FRIEND OF MY DAUGHTER WORKED AS AN ATTORNEY IN COAKLEY’S OFFICE. SHE LOVED HER AND THIS GIRL IS A BIG CONSERVATIVE. I DON’T CARE. I CAN’T STAND LISTENING HER SPEAK WITH HER WESTCHESTER LOCKJAW”. MAYBE IN MA., WE SHOULD CALL IT “WELLESLEY LOCKJAW’.
"Now go away...or I shall taunt you a second time-uh."
I’d rather see Scott Brown winning! A long shot for sure but a girl can dream about a nonDem winning just once in our very screwed up state...can’t she?
That would be a miracle. Love to see it, but this is Massholechusetts we’re talking about.
Kelly Ayotte in NH is who I dream about winning. That’s as close as we Massholes get. Sort of like Moses not being able to enter Israel, just see it from afar. And then die.
The Hillary Clinton of Massachusetts.
