Werewolves aren't the only things to be wary of during a full moon. After a month of little crime, the Goochland Sheriff's Office received a call from a Whitehall Rd. resident during the early hours of Oct. 3. According the Sheriff Jim Agnew, the woman was home alone and reported to deputies that someone had attempted to break into her house by entering through the front door. The woman called a second time, telling deputies that there was another attempt to enter her home, upon which the woman exercised her Second Amendment rights and drew a pistol on the man. "She did the right thing," Agnew told the board of supervisors on October 6. "She said, 'Leave, or I'm gonna kill ya.'" Deputies quickly apprehended Timothy Justin Tirado, 25, of Goochland, who is charged with burglary. At that time, Agnew said deputies had not yet found a passenger who was seen in Tirado's car.

“Goochland”?????!!!!!
That alone made the article worth reading!
I’ve always enjoyed the name of that neighboring county. It’s a venerable Virginia name.
Late night “antics?” This nimrod is a criminal who might well have been shot. Those ain’t antics!
I’m working in Goochland County now.
Wasn’t there a Miss Gooch in “Mame?”
Ha! I can see it now...Cause of death? Antics
Personally, I prefer the non-verbal warning of a shell being jacked into the chamber of a pump shotgun.
Reminds me of the story about an old lady who shot and killed a man, who broke into the house.
The deputy asked why she shot him 6 times and she replied “because, when I pulled the trigger the 7th time, nothing happened”.
I love that sound. Those engaged in midnight antics in another person's home get really still or really lively when they hear it!
You have been watching too many hollywood movies.
Please, take a firearms class before something bad happens.
Enroll in a firearms class.
not to smart. the weapon should have already had a round chambered and there is no guarantee that the bad guys has ever heard that sound or recognizes it then if he had. most likely high on booze or whacked out on drugs, zero fear. you think that noise is gonna halt his advances? why risk a jam? why give away YOUR location by noisily chambering a round? those are just a few of the many, many more reasons and thoughts related to, why that ‘slam in a round, scare the bad guy’ idea is bogus. those thoughts were taught in all of the courses, (4 of which were organized and taught by nationally known instructors whose names all heavy duty FReeper gun guys would recognize), I have taken over the years relating to the firearm’s role in personal protection, and the legal SOP following the use of a firearm in a deadly force incident.
I have - several of them.
