WaPo: No, the NFL Isn't Too Good for Limbaugh
The Washington Post ^ | October 15, 2009 | Jo-Ann Armao

Ringleading a notorious dog fighting ring wasn't enough to prevent Michael Vick from being welcomed back into the National Football League’s fold. Likewise, his involvement in a fatal drunk driving accident probably won't prevent Donte Stallworth's eventual return to the league. So it strikes me as more than a little ridiculous that the league thinks it is too good for Rush Limbaugh.

In case you haven’t heard, Limbaugh was just dropped from a group trying to purchase the St. Louis Rams, following a fuss about his inclusion in the deal. Dave Cheketts, the leader of the group aiming to buy the team, said the possibility of the conservative commentator being involved had become "a complication and a distraction."

I am no Limbaugh fan. Not only is he infamous for ugly remarks, but he is a practitioner in the politics of hate.(continued)

Have any of these elitist writers ever actually listened to Rush, Beck or any other conservative on the radio, or do they just go by what Media Matters, TPM and HuffPo tell them?!

They are clueless. Rush’s listeners just learn to tune them out.

The NFL is a waste of time. Dumb taxpayers pay for mega stadiums. They enjoy NFL games with Olberman on NBC. A great distraction for morons who watch reverse racism “entertainment” while their country is being stolen from them.

ST. LOUIS (AP)—Conservative radio personality Rush Limbaugh lashed out at NFL union leader DeMaurice Smith, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the media a day after being dropped from a group trying to buy the St. Louis Rams.
-snip=

“I said to him at this meeting, ‘Are you aware of the firestorm?’ He said ‘We wouldn’t have approached you if we hadn’t taken care of that,”’ said Limbaugh, a conservative favorite who is reviled by many liberals.

-snip-

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Colts owner Jim Irsay each expressed misgivings this week at a league-wide meeting about Limbaugh’s involvement, with Goodell saying Limbaugh had made “polarizing” comments and Irsay vowing to vote against him. On Wednesday, Checketts said Limbaugh had been dropped from the bid.
*************************

Read it closely and slowly. Notice how the same people who do the “reviling” are accusing the other side of being “polarizing.”

Let that sink in for a minute.

It’s been pretty obvious that most of the anti-Rush commenters on news programs are clueless and just repeating stuff they’ve heard by their fave leftist stations and blogs. It is worrisome, to say the least, that they are so incurious about facts.

BTW,if the NFL is actually serious about avoiding ‘divisiveness’, I suggest contacting their offices at 216-450-2000 to demand that a truly divisive , vitriol filled figure, Kieth Olbermann, be removed from NBC Sunday night NFL broadcasts.
He has a much more visible association with the NFL product than any owner would have.
After all , according to the NFL it is all about avoiding divisiveness.
That number again is 216-450-2000. 8:30am to 7pm Eastern Time.

No need for me to support them by watching the games. I’ll tune into something else.

Absolutely!!

I don’t listen to Rush because I am at work. But I think he does very good work.

He has become a target. Plain and simple.

The amusing, or revolting, thing is that Jackson and Sharpton are speaking out on this subject.

Are any two bigger race baiters in the world than these?

(side note to Rush, if you are listening...please buy the Cowboys and send Jerry back to Arkansas....please....please...please.)

The difference between Rush, Stalworth and Vick is that Rush is unrepentant? Excuse me but when did conservative thought become the same as a dog killing ring and a drunk driver killing someone?

Even when the idiots stick up for Rush’s right to own a team they step in it.

Likewise, his involvement in a fatal drunk driving accident probably won't prevent Donte Stallworth's eventual return to the league.

The prosecutor in the Stallworth case would have been lucky to get a conviction. Yeah, he may have been over the linit, but the 'victim' was not in a crosswalk and wearing dark clothing; and it is very likely he would have been hit even if Stallworth had not been over the limit.

In reality, Stallworth has a good argument for immediate reinstatement.

I suspect that this weekend’s NFL viewership is going to drop dramatically.
