Juan Williams as the guy-next-door is okay. I think he is moral and understands the difference between right and wrong. On TV, poor old Juan is trapped by the sterotypes. I wish him well and hope he moves next door.

Short story time. Maybe 25 years ago there was a local criminal case where a young black man was receiving a sentence. I don’t remember the charges, but there were four serious charges. The (black) judge rendered the sentence. As the convict was being led out, he called the judge a “house n-——”. BIG MISTAKE. The judge immediately resentenced him to the maximum sentence for each count, to be served consecutively.
The moral: sometimes that “war on Whitey” isn’t universally appreciated.

I actually enjoy Juan as an opposing viewpoint on FOX (like listening to both sides). But that’s just me. I’d rather listen to him than some shrill harpie on PMSNBC ANY day.

I think you may be looking at it wrong. The person who said that to Juan wasn't on Rush's side, it was Juan who was defending Rush and was being called an Uncle Tom for doing so. At least that's my understanding of it.

Very revealing of the mentality behind all this with Limbaugh. They don’t care about facts, and I don’t think they they even care that much about race, it’s ALL about ideology.

Good for Juan. I credit him for that. But that's not really so much of a stretch. I don't think he will lose too much liberal street cred for that remark. Any honest liberal (of which there aren't many) with half a brain (which narrows the field even further) can see the racism/hypocricy in what the NFL is trying to do to Rush.

There are too few of his kind, who are honest rather than reflexively kneejerk liberal no matter the topic — among those I could class with Juan are Kirsten Powers and Pat Caddell.

Yes — Juan seems to be honest and doesn’t drink the kool-aid. I would invite him over to my place as well. He seems to be the kind of lib with whom you can have a civil, serious discussion and then go have a beer afterwards.
