An Oregon apartment complex is banning its residents from flying American flags, not only from their dwellings but also their vehicles, KATU in Portland reported.....
Sharron White, a long-time resident, was told by management to take down the flag she's flown on her car for eight years because "someone might get offended."

Old news posted many times and has been resolved.
The news last night said this rule has been reversed.
How could the American flag offend any American citizen? Perhaps we are worried about offending terrorists? Illegals?
i suppose i should have looked further into into it before i posted. however the trampling of free speech is rather annoying.
thank goodness the ban has been lifted and the flag can fly now at The Oaks apartment complex. I liked the comment by one of the folks who offered to help those who were offended by the American flag to pack their bags and get ‘em out of the country. If they’re so offended by what the American flag represents, then they don’t need to visit here, work here, live here, prosper here. Let ‘em go back to the hellholes they claim as their country of origin.
KVAL News also contacted the American Civil Liberties Union to ask whether the policy banning flags from the apartment complex violated any laws. The answer from the ACLU: No.
Thus speaks Ruth Buzzi Ginzburg and friends.
Did they ban the rainbow flag also?
But Holcomb said she received different legal counsel that led her to believe she is wrong to ban the flags."
Liberal Translation: The ACLU does not think it is a violation of the civil rights of a patriotic American citizen who is prevented from flying Old Glory. However, it is a Hate Crime to ban the Flags of other nations, especially those who hate the USA and harbor terrorists.
Thank you ACLU. I got it now!
That isn't now or ever was a valid reason for such a request. Keep flying the flag and then file a complaint when one of the condo Nazis attempts to remove it.
Well, the Nuremberg Race Laws have been resolved too. No need to bring ‘em up ever again. Nope.
It should never have happened in the first place, and is probably still happening elsewhere.

While this story is about a rental complex there are plenty of Home Owner Associations run by the local nut case - both in red and blue states.
Too many people take no interest in who is running their HOA until bizzaro stuff starts happening.
What if I feel offended by this request?
Nah, probably the tourists.
My point is that if it’s a day old story chances are it would have been posted a number of times on FR.
The front page of the News/Activism page holds about 50 stories. Right before I made this post there was two stories about how 3 of the 5 on the NPP committie were against giving it to Obama.
Look for that story to be posted about once every half hour for the next 8 hours or so.
If people would read first and then post there would be fewer posts to wade through.
All of the above is just my opinion.
Yeah, we wouldn’t want people who come to America to actually feel like they are in America.
Really! I was unaware of that story. Thank you for mentioning it. I'm glad to hear it's widely available so I don't have to trust my ability to stumble over it in the list of other stories. My thanks to whoever is keeping it visible!
YMMV.
Maybe you should try reading FR before posting on it.
You might learn something.
There likely was no one offended by the flag, except those who wanted to exercise authority over their neighbors from their vaunted position as keepers of the park’s dignity. They picked the wrong item for their perverse decency.
And since you like to post without checking the forum you might want to start a thread about this story.

“U.S. Troop Funds Diverted to Pet Projects”
“....Senators diverted $2.6 billion in funds in a defense spending bill to pet projects largely at the expense of accounts that pay for fuel, ammunition and training for U.S. troops, including those fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to an analysis.....”
This story seems to have been sliding along below the RADAR for a while.
Please post a link to where I did that.
“....Really! I was unaware of that story. Thank you for mentioning it.....”
Your post #21.
I sincerely ask your pardon. I thought you meant “post [an article] without reading”, not “post [a comment] without reading.” I reacted as I did because I have not posted an article in a long time, and when I do, I search for similar articles first. While I really do appreciate repeat postings of articles (I usually don’t have the time to read the whole page), I don’t want to cause them.
I am like you and start very, very few threads. Why? Because 99.9% of the time somebody else has posted it.
When I log into FR I click on News / Activism and pull down scanning the front page (around 50 threads/stories).
It takes about 2 hours to cycle a story off the front page - less if a lot is going on.
People on FR are pretty sharp and not much slips by them. But what is News? That story I linked to you above is not “News” yet but you would think a story about taking money from Operations & Maintenence and using it for Pork would have twitched a few more whiskers of the FR Cats.
So far I could only find where it was posted once with limited views. Oh, well.
Anyway, starting a thread on a day old story that had been resolved by the time you post it is not news - unless you also post that it has been resolved
and
I just wish more people would pull through the front page before starting a thread. It looks a little funny when there is 5 threads on the same story posted about 5 minutes apart.
OK, I’m just venting a bit today.
First of all...I want to say this is NOT a free speech issue. The 1st Amendment protects us from CONGRESS making laws that infring on our freedoms of speech and religion. The Supreme Court has since stated that the 1st Amendment also applies to the States and local governments.
So...neither the Federal, State or Local government can make any infringment upon your right to exercise your freedoms of religion or speech.
An apartment complex is not the government. They have every right to be idiots...and be wrong. They have every right to suffer all the consequences of boycots...getting sued if they evict you or sueing them for any other reason you can think of (civil suit)...etc for making such an un-patriotic policy. They have every right to become the object of scorn and ridicule...
BUT the 1st Amendment GUARANTEES their right to do this...and the 1st does not prohibit them (a private business) from taking this action...and it is NOT a violation of ANYONE'S 1st Amendment right to free speech.
Its just slimey...and stupid.
Some corporate mouth piece needs some street justice to find out why it is ass.... don’t abuse their power like this in the US. Because they do not face street justice, fascism in on the move.
