Matthew Whalen, the Egle Scout in upstate New York who was suspended for having a pocket knife in his car received reassuring news from West Point today. Attending the prestigious New York military academy was always a dream for Matthew since the first grade. News 10 Albany reports:
The military academy he's wanted to attend since first grade has told Matthew not to worry.

Ooh, that’s really going to burn up the libtards who tried to derail Matthew’s West Point hopes with this garbage.
Watch your back, Matthew. Frustrated libs can be pretty nasty.
Bravo! (x 2)
Whalen still faces punishment, which is unacceptable. Under NY law, and all sane reasoning, the knife was NOT A WEAPON.
Honor among Honorable men.
Now as to the School Districts that started this whole thing.... Zero Tolerance is Zero Intelligence.
If short-bladed pocket knives are weapons, then baseball bats surely are as well. I take it all of these zero-intelligence schools have banned the great American pastime.
We had school issued scalpels for Biology class when I was in high school 25 yrs ago. We cut up worms, frogs, etc...bet they all do all their dissecting on computers now.
How about nice, freshly sharpened #2 pencils?! Schools had better stick with crayons. Safer and a better fit for the teacher's union curriculum.
I wrote this note to the fool that suspended Mr. Whalen:
Dear Mr. Goodwin,
As much as I don’t usually get this amazed by this kind of thing coming out of a public school administrator, I am shocked you chose to interfere in the process and tack on an extra fifteen days in a matter that was already bordering on idiocy. “zero tolerance”. Um, ok. Where in your precious rules does it say, sir to turn off your brain? This young man has no disciplinary record, he was active in his community, had gone through Army basic training, and earned his Eagle Scout merit badge. He even saved a life, all before he was 17. How much had you accomplished before you were 17? Something tells me nowhere near as much.
I doubly suspect the real reason you chose to tack on the extra fifteen days is because this young man has chosen to make a career of the defense of this country. Why? Are you threatened by that? Kids like him are sadly, rare these days, no thanks to your generation. His generation’s going to be stuck cleaning up your self indulgent mess. I suspect if he wanted to make a career teaching inner-city youth, you’d have bent over backwards for him.
The fact that you won’t speak to him, or go on camera to tell your side is nothing short of a cowardly act. Then again, you’ve neither shown competence nor character in this episode. Here’s hoping this young man’s life isn’t derailed by your pettiness. Then again, most Army officers I knew would have seen this for what it is..as for the NCOs..well, I can’t repeat what they’d say. Suffice it to say, it would describe you to a “T”.
