Obama Hasn't Closed the Health-Care Sale
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 10-14-09 | Karl Rove

Wait until the voters figure out how Congress is proposing to pay for reform.

Now that the Senate Finance Committee has voted for the health-care bill drafted by Montana Democratic Sen. Max Baucus, negotiations over the real bill can begin in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's cozy Capitol hideaway. It won't be easy.

Democrats now face a central problem for any governing party: How to pass a major piece of legislation when there are a lot of sharply different ideas about what should be in it. Trying to reconcile what Democrats in the House prefer with what Democrats in the Senate want is already opening up divisions among the party's supporters.

And so, Obama tries to bribe the elderly with a $250 check, before they are denied health care, later.

Amazing, isn't it? It's actually an insult. Old doesn't mean stupid, and it doesn't mean greedy. I think that bone may get tossed right back at him with 'FUBO' written on it.

I just don’t see why it should be so hard to stop this.

85% of Americans have health insurance and are largely satisfied with it. It shouldn’t be that hard to appeal to that 85% and explain to them that a massive overhaul of the syatem they’re currently fine with will not be a good thing. For any policy if 85% like x and a new policy seeks to totally change it, it shouldn’t be that hard to stop.

We did seem to be on the wya through Labor Day. Since then though the opposition seems to have slacked off. I don’t know why. More focus on other issues like Afghanistan, the Olympics, the Nobel Prize, the economy, ACORN, Czars/Van Jones, the UN speech, etc... None of that matters when it comes to stopping this and all it does is distract from the main objective.

It looks like they won’t vote on it until after Thanksgiving so there’s still plenty of time to refocus and stop it. Dem losses in VA and especially in NJ would be be a big help.

The bill has to be reconciled with the House version.

Snowe and Collins may water down the bill enough to get the moonbats angry and the House libs won't support it, and if it's too liberal the Maine sisters may not support it at all. And Obama is not going to sign a bill passed exclusively by Democrats.

I don't see this bill passing.

You are assuming they are actually trying to make things better.

When they are actually trying to brake the system so that they can latter come back and say that it's gotten so bad that the only solution is universal care.

Because 1) our representatives don't listen to us; and 2) the Congress is rather tightly controlled by those aligned with the Nobel Piss Prize winner. I heard on the radio this morning that when Obama first met with the Republican leadership earlier this year, he stated that he'd rather accomplish his goals and serve one term, than fail and serve 2 terms. What's that say about him pulling out all the stops, bribing, threatening, etc. enough members OF HIS OWN PARTY to get this passed.

Face it, we're screwed.

I wouldn't bet a warm bucket of spit on that. He'll sign whatever gets to his desk on this issue, and claim a massive victory no matter what the substance of the thing is. Don' you realize that this guy and his ilk are playing for keeps? Doesn't the fact that they aren't satisfied with controlling both houses of Congress, the Presidency and the vast majority of the media and school systems, they have to shut Limbaugh out of owning a damned football team.

They are the Evil Party, Republicans the Stupid Party (because they thing that the other side will play by the Marquis de Queensbury Rules).

Should be “Doesn’t it mean anything to you that they aren’t satisfied with ....”

Its the albatross that could sink the Democrats: higher taxes, reduced benefits and deficits as far the eye could see. They should really stop digging but they won't.

Obamacare is the use of the wrong economic system to run health care. Health care cannot be run with the US treasury that is dependent upon taxation as its revenue source. Health care requires the economic machine of Capitalism which is a more powerful revenue source. Capitalism does not devalue the dollar when the costs of health care outstrips the ability to pay. Capitalism generates new wealth from its revenue source while government can only print more money to meet its costs.

Is that Bayport Mn?
If so, how’s the weather doing so far?

One trick is easily explained. The bill imposes tax hikes and benefit cuts right away, including $121 billion of Medicare reductions between 2011 and 2015. But new spending really doesn't start until five years out (2015) and isn't fully operational until 2017. The bill uses 10 years worth of tax hikes and benefit cuts to fund a few years worth of benefits.

Why? Why the hurry, hurry, campaign, campaign all over the country for "free health care" and then not even make it available for what 6 years, when he is not running for re-election? Is this just all about tax hikes and they think we can't figure it out? The elite in DC are so bent, they are "making blood shoot out of my eyes!".
