Apartment residents told to take down U.S. flags (Blood boiling alert!)

At the Oaks Apartments in Albany, the management can fly their own flag advertising one and two bedroom apartments - but residents have been told they can't fly any flags at all.

Jim Clausen flies the American flag from the back of his motorcycle. He has a son in the military heading back to Iraq, and the flag - he said - is his way of showing support.

"This flag stands for all those people," said Clausen, an Oaks Apartment resident. "It stands for the people that can no longer stand - who died in wars. That's why I fly this flag."

I guess some people just don't give a damn that we have sons, daughters, husband, wifes, mothers, fathers dying almost daily for this flag!

Undoubtedly, when you look at all the facts, there is some rule they agreed to when they bought or rented the place, or they are allowed to fly the flag, but not in an unusual manner they might wish.

We’ll see. Until proven otherwise, I’ll save my outrage for other things.

If I were told to take down my flag, I would leave it up and defend it.

And, you’d all read about it right here.......

From the article.
"Attempts to find out for ourselves why management would ban flags were unsuccessful. KATU wanted to talk to management at Oaks Apartments, but no one has returned our calls. The woman we were told had made the decision said she was "not going to answer any questions.""

management told them the flags could be offensive because they live in a diverse community.

Yep. The old "diversity rule". It's always a good thing to look out for the feelings of your neighbors who happen to hate their own country.

It sounds like this was a recent decision. According to the article, "The woman we were told had made the decision said she was "not going to answer any questions."
"But to Oaks Apartment management, Clausen said, the American flag symbolizes problems."

and "Sharron White, who has flown a flag on her car for eight years, has been told to take it down."

and "someone might get offended."

I suspect that apartment complex might be renting to some illegals, maybe they ought to be investigated?

I doubt it. They are telling people they can not fly flags on their vehicles or they can evict them. I highly doubt this is true.

The left will litigate at the drop of a hat. That is what a firm runs scared of the left. We have to respond in kind. If you don’t assert a competing right, then the other guys will always win.

You’re right. A car is private property according to SCOTUS, not the property of the Apt.

"...management told them the flags could be offensive because they live in a diverse community."

If another member of this "diverse" community chose to display a Hamas/Palestinian flag, would the same management see fit to object on similar grounds? Of course they wouldn't - because the Progressive paradigm of oppressors and victims is what is at work here, and with it is dictated the preferred treatment of the symbols of each. To the Left, America is always the oppressor and its symbols are treated accordingly. This fact also explains the purposeful alteration of American symbols in forms such as last year's faux Obama "Presidential seal", and the red-white-and-blue Obama logo, both of which one assumes would be welcome displays in any suitably "diverse" neighborhood.

I certainly don’t support Flag Bans, But did anyone else bother to go to the link and read the story in the Column next to it?

It seems someone in the Area has been setting Fire to Flags.

That could be the Motive, But we will noever know because the Apartment Management is not talking.

If the tenants didn’t agree to such rules, then I’m 100% on their side.

When are people going to stop being cowed by "someone might be offended." and say "and if I'm made to do what you say, I'LL be offended...that's a fact and not a maybe."

Therefore, I will not comply."

Barfalo made the comment that she gets violently ill at the sight of an American flag. Just an example. Surprised I have not run into such violent reactions in the Moonbatapolis area.
