Sixty-four percent of American Jews approve of the job President Obama is doing, significantly higher than both the national average and the ratings the president received from the other religious groups surveyed, according to a new Gallup poll.
President Barack Obama Gallup also found that while Obamas job approval rating among Jews is down from 83 percent at the beginning of the year, he experienced the same percent drop among the general population. According to an analysis from the polling company, the equal rates of decline indicate that Obamas policies on Israel and the Middle East have not had a disproportionately negative (or positive) impact on his image among American Jews, and that Republican attacks on his handling of Israel-related issue have not resonated in the Jewish community.
The polls release came just a few days after an American Jewish Committee survey found that American Jews approved of the presidents handling of U.S.-Israel relations by a 54-32 percent margin.
The Gallup poll of 379 Jews, conducted throughout the month of September, has a margin of error of plus or minus 6 percent.
Obamas 64 percent approval rating among Jews is 12 points higher than the 52 percent rating he received from all U.S. adults in September, and much higher than three other religious groups surveyed. Obama received 54 percent approval from Catholics, 47 percent from Protestants and 32 percent from Mormons. Muslims were not included because the sample size was too small.
Jewish Democrats cited the poll as proof that the president is still extremely popular among Jews, as he was in the 2008 election.
The numbers give the lie to the myth that the presidents support in the Jewish community is waning, said the president of the National Jewish Democratic Council, David Harris, and demonstrate that there is no loss of support for this president due to his commitment to pursuing peace and security for Israel.
The poll does not explain the reasons for the 19 percent of Jews who no longer approve of Obamas performance. Some observers noted that even though Jewish conservatives have been vocal in their criticisms, the drop also could be attributable to those who believe the president has not been liberal enough or moved quickly enough on the Israeli-Palestinian issue.
But Harris said the fact that Obamas decline in Jewish support is similar to his drop among all Americans shows that American Jews are just that Americans and mirror the feelings of the country as a whole.
The executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, Matt Brooks, said Jewish Democrats should be worried because Obama is hemorrhaging support across the board.
I dont think its a reason to celebrate that Obamas rate of decline among Jews is the same as in the general population, Brooks said.
Usually Jews are the last to go in supporting a Democratic president, he said, but theyre losing Jews as fast as theyre losing everybody else.
According to the poll, 66 percent of Jews identify as Democrats, compared to 27 percent who say they are Republican.
64% are lawyers.
Some people have a victims DNA.
Kinda makes you wonder what they have against Israeli jews doesnt it?
Why would they support someone who hates their very existence, and doesn't have a problem cozying up with nut jobs who intend on eliminating Israel from the face of the earth?
Wait until Obama orders the shoot down of Israeli planes flying over Iraq on their way to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“Kinda makes you wonder what they have against Israeli jews doesnt it?”
Just mind boggling. I have trouble understanding the mindset of the American Jew. I know their are exceptions.
I don't know many Mormons, but it appears they're thinking much more clearly and correctly than my fellow Catholics. As for the 64% approval rating from the Jews, all I can say is, "Oy vey".
Sure sure sure....until the next electon.
Thats one way to put it. Another way to put it is that O has lost a full fourth of his jewish support. Another way to put it is that his jewish opposition has doubled.
In Harris' world that means "no loss of support". Which is why you never let a Democrat take care of the petty cash drawer.

Why Does the Left Hate Israel? By Richard Baehr
http://www.americanthinker.com/2004/01/why_does_the_left_hate_israel.html
American liberals — and Barack, who’s something other than a mere liberal — will defend Israel to the last... Iraeli. Our jews have to be *guzzling* Obama’s koolaid!
For the sake of argument, taking the hypothesis that I’m supposed to feel shame, I’m supposed to feel shame because of Madoff (who ripped off fellow leftwing Jews) and not this? Or I’m supposed to feel shame at Madoff and not George Soros?
No.Morons.
Jewish VOTES are trivial. If the Messiah, PBUH, holds the few thousand of my co-religionists who donate disproportionately big bucks, and who act as informational gatekeepers, he’ll have what he needs from the Chosen People (who aren’t as smart as they think they are).
I do get lonely at times.
The muzzie hates Israel, but the majority of jews in this country support him. Go figure.
Jews in name only are jews with a small j.
I have no doubt that the Jews who support Obama are leftists. Their ideology supercedes their religion. When you think about it that is monstrous.
There have been indications that Obama favors the Palestinians and that certainl does not bode well for Israel. I wonder what those leftist Jews will say when attacks against Israel increase because of the perception that Obama is weak and is basically hostile to Israel.
That question is hypothetical. A Jewish columnist at The New York Times wrote a couple of years ago that he was ready to imagine a world WITHOUT Israel. At least in his case his slimy, radical leftist ideology has made him comfortable with the obliteration of Israel per Ahmadenejad. I don’t think that he is alone in that view.
For most American Jews, Marxism is their religion. Not Judaism.
The same can be said for many American Christians.
Well they are STUPID Jewish lawyers if they support the “brown clown” and they get everything they deserve .
I swear the Jews would rather identify with a Muslim like 0bama than a Christian like Bush. Bush scared them because he was religious and went to church. 0bama doesn’t attend church.
Aren’t most of Obama’s advisers/czars Jews?
world’s smartest peoples...”cough”
64% would have backed Hitler back in 1936 too.
Wait till the Jewish Lawyers find out there are no lawyers in Communism.
I hear they like communists because the Russians helped to beat Hitler.
Doesn’t the anti-christ have the support of some Jews at the beginning to gain some sort of help in signing a peace treaty which he will end up breaking? Are these Jews supporting that person?
Obama is not Muslim, he is leftist. If he was Muslim he wouldn’t be so far left.
Sorry friend, I am in Massachusetts.
Freepers constantly wonder why Jewish voters seem as married to the Democratic party as black voters. What’s been missing from the discussion is a sense of geography. Jews in this country are mostly concentrated in a relative handful of urban areas. Most live in the bluest of blue areas, and their voting patterns are (unsurprisingly) similar to their non-Jewish neighbors. There is some truth to Tip O’Neill’s line that “all politics is local.” My guess is that those Jews who live in “red” areas tend to vote Republican. Certainly that’s true in our small town.
I guess I never noticed what a neo-con he is.
64% are lawyers.

63.99999%
I hope that my constantly sending Jewish friends and cousins the articles and links from here has helped to lower his support. It’s all I can do about that.
I got one email last night that included the following:
“It would be nice to hear from you other than your anti Obama emails.”
Send an anti-Biden
LOL
I’ve also sent links about Van Jones, Kevin Jennings and John Holden in the past few weeks.
I hope they all read the email about Jim DeMint’s report of his Honduras trip.
Send one about how much money lawyers, bankers, and accountants make in Cuba. That should do the trick.
Maybe they are confused and believe that he actually is the Messiah.
That is an amazing photo
“The Gallup poll of 379 Jews”
Is that sample big enough to be scientific? Add just ten Orthodox Jews from Brooklyn to that sample and it would likely be skewed the other way.
(I strongly suspect the pollsters avoided hasidic and Orthodox neighborhoods...)
Stunning that they can be this gullible after all they have been through.
The margin of error is six percentage points, which is higher than most political polls. As the sampled population increases, the statistical margin of error decreases. So yes, you might say that the number is too small.
Is that sample big enough to be scientific?
******************************************
Probably not, but the bottom line results don’t surprise me.
I spoke with some local orthodox (not Hasidic) Jews before, during and after the election, and there was a surprisingly large percentage who were not particularly well-informed about the candidates.
I suppose they have since changed their stance if they spoke to people in Israel (where obozo recently garnered 4% who believed he was pro-Israel.)
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

That’s not any different then most of the American electorate.
Heck, Jay Leno has a tough time finding teenagers that know how many stars are on our own flag.
Yep, I just posted on another thread about us living in an idiocracy.

47% Protestants....Yeah I know some of them. Yellow dogs.
I could never go there. I can’t even get to the third step on a ladder.
“Sixty-four percent of American Jews approve of the job President Obama is doing,”

Something is wrong, reports I have read claim that the Ashkenazi Jews have the highest average IQ of any group in the world. This poll, on the other hand, seems to indicate that nearly two thirds are hopeless idiots.
