Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Nashville Passenger Subdued After Threatening Other Travelers
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A jet that took off from Seattle bound for Atlanta made an emergency landing in Nashville after a passenger had to be subdued, according to Nashville International Airport officials. Officials said Paul Benjamin Paul Marchuk III was threatening passengers and quoting Bible passages while on board Delta flight 1050. Other passengers managed to subdue him.
Marchuk, 22, of Canton, Ga., was turned over to Metro Nashville police. According to a police arrest warrant, "The suspect would not allow the person sitting next to him to leave her seat to use the restroom. The suspect kept telling her that his blood would be on her and he was not going to let her leave no matter what happened. Several passengers restrained the suspect and the suspect attempted to bite one of the passengers in the leg."
No one on the aircraft was injured. The Boeing 757 with 178 passengers and a six-person crew flew on to Atlanta where it landed some 1 1/2 hours late.

Wow. About seven men who looked like marines got up and surrounded him for the rest of the flight. I didn't see them while getting on the plane which was rather small. It was like they appeared from nowhere.

Yeah I agree, it looks as if they did work him over once or twice. Many airlines carry flex cuffs and medical restraints now to deal with unruly pax on longer flights where physically restraining someone while the plane diverts is unrealistic.
Visions of them deploying the airstair at the rear of the aircraft and dragging him by the feet down to the tarmac one step at a time... bump... bump... bump...
