Tom Friedman: what Obama should say to the Nobel Committee (Surprising column from a liberal)

This Tom Friedman column surprised me, but it was a pleasant surprise. Several bloggers have highlighted it, and I want to do so too, because it says some things that really need to be said—not that Obama will say them.

Friedman is a 5 star monster.

A very, very rare column like this is occasionally written so that liberal deceivers like Friedman can pretend they are even-handed.

Don’t believe a word of anything Friedman says.

That’s not bad for what Bambi should say.

Wanna bet here’s what he DOES say?

After Sunday Media Blitz, Obama Goes Golfing With NYT Columnist Thomas Friedman

Posted by Ari Melber, TheNation.com at 7:45 AM on September 21, 2009.

Friedman joins a small, elite list of opinion journalists from traditional outlets who have been granted private — and largely off the record — audiences with the President.

A man writes 2 books after doing nothing which launches him to a career as Senator where he does nothing, which leads to TOTUS-reader who has actually gone negative (less than nothing), and then becomes the no-bell giveraeate.

We have Chance the Gardener combined with the Rain Man in real life.

Folks, even the most drugged-out writer in Hollywood could have imagined this script.

Too bad Obama would probably rather choke on his own vomit than mention American exceptionalism on the world stage. He’ll no doubt use the Nobel ceremony to apologize more on behalf of our great country.

Too bad fat little Tommy boy saw fit to omit the Soldiers and Sailors and Airmen who fought and died to defend us against communist tyranny in VietNam and Korea. He is a liberal chickensh*t and that's all he'll ever be. Liberal chickensh*ts never change their spots.

Shame on Prager and all the rest who thought this shallow tripe was an honorable effort. Shame.

But enough about Bill Ayers... let’s get back to Bambi.

>> Folks, even the most drugged-out writer in Hollywood could have imagined this script.

No, it takes the imagination of a George Soros to come up with this script. But drugged-out Hollywood is happy to play a supporting role!

If you read the entire column in the link provided in Post #1, you will see that he does mention Korea ( although he forgot all about Vietnam ).

Here’s what he said Obama should include :

“I will accept this award on behalf of the American men and women who are still on patrol today in Iraq, helping to protect Baghdad’s fledgling government as it tries to organize the rarest of things in that country and that region — another free and fair election.”

“I will accept this award on behalf of the thousands of American soldiers who today help protect a free and Democratic South Korea from an unfree and Communist North Korea.”

Of course whether Obama will say anything even close to the sentiments expressed in that suggested speech remains to be seen.

I can’t believe I would ever praise this ROP lover but, he is right on.

“There can be no peace without peacekeepers”. And our people have been the sole peacekeepers, of the world, for the last 100 years.

Either Friedman suffers from bipolar disorder or he is just a weasel trying to reestablish his "moderate" cred after his meltdowns a few weeks ago.

I used to think Friedman was fairly enlightened, but now I think he is just a master of the obvious. I liked "The World Is Flat", but I realize now I was just a member of the choir. I like the book because I worked in the tech industry, had been involved with the tech boom, had drunk George Gilder's Internet bandwidth kool aid, had been to Bangalore several years before Friedman, and witnessed what was going on there, knew China was a critical market, heard my company's country manager of India explain how India was going from money in a tin can to Internet banking and would completely bypass passbook savings, witnessed central Africa roll out GSM cellular networks knowing they would never roll out landlines, and on and on and on.

Of course I liked it. I was like the athlete reading the sports page after yesterday's big win.

Friedman's stuff is good as part of a high school or college economics and social science curriculum, but to a middle aged business man, it really is nothing new. It is pulp non-fiction, like most business books.

Maybe Friedman got this idea from Lynne, who knows ? But regardless, I like the sentiment of the proposed speech. The question is --- will Obama even GIVE such a speech? I'm willing to bet he's going to add another round of apology for the USA instead.

Yeah, that was the first thing that crossed my mind too, being a veteran of the "Korean Conflict" as some called it back then. No, I didn't do any fighting but I'm proud I showed up, just one of a forgotten generation.
