California's official Harvey Milk Day "an idea whose time has come"
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | October 12 2009 | Carla Marinucci

Posted on 10/12/2009 12:53:10 PM PDT by artichokegrower

Harvey Milk Day, a state day to honor the slain San Francisco gay rights advocate, is now official in California thanks to a somewhat unexpected signature Monday from Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has vetoed such legislation in the past.

The bill was one of two key gay rights bills authored by State Senator Mark Leno of San Francisco, who says he's "pleasantly surprised" that the governor put his pen to both; the other bill makes gay marriages performed in other states legal in California.

It always has been and will forever be. Replacing Ahnold with Whitman wont do a damn thing. I was in DT L.A. yesterday afternoon and the amt of people walking the streets near 7th/Figueroa was less than 5 at times. They I noticed the library was closed so the bums had nowhere to go..

Columbus Day is no longer a state holiday in Cal. The state employeess got 8 hours to take off when they want instead, with supervisor’s approval. Can’t recognize that slave mongering Italian.

Don't laugh - it's coming. Really. We're already well on the road towards that kind of moral depravity.

Why society just sits and takes this kind of crap is beyond me.

People who don’t acknowledge Christmas should be scheduled to work. We shouldn’t force people to take off to celegrate “offensive” holidays. Don’t we all have the right to not be offended (he 11th bill of right)?

Harvey Milk was a supporter of Rev. Jim Jones. Wasn't he shot because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the mayor the main target?

BTW, one theory holds that the shootings were actually related to the Peoples Temple even though the occurred after the mass murder in Jonestown, with the victims' link to Jones.

Ok, so there was no getting around having a day to honor a gay rights advocate, thus the problem of finding one who was not a pedophile...You try it, I bet you can't either.

I don't think so. In fact I was just wondering what kind of secret deal Ahnuld made with Feinstein and Boxer and probably others to exchange this signature for their support in his run for President.

Good Bye Ten Commandments... Hello Sodom & Gomorrah:

Philo of Alexandria (c. 20 BC to AD 50), a Jewish philosopher, theologian, and a contemporary of Jesus and Paul, comments,

“The land of the Sodomites, a part of Canaan afterwards called Palestinian Syria, was brimful of innumerable iniquities, particularly such as arise from gluttony and lewdness, and multiplied and enlarged every other possible pleasure with so formidable a menace that it had at last been condemned by the Judge of All…Incapable of bearing such satiety, plunging like cattle, they threw off from their necks the law of nature and applied themselves to…forbidden forms of intercourse. Not only in their mad lust for women did they violate the marriages of their neighbors, but also men mounted males without respect for the sex nature which the active partner shares with the passive; and so when they tried to beget children they were discovered to be incapable of any but a sterile seed. Yet the discovery availed them not, so much stronger was the force of the lust which mastered them. Then, as little by little they accustomed those who were by nature men to submit to play the part of women, they saddled them with the formidable curse of a female disease… for not only did they emasculate their bodies by luxury and voluptuousness but they worked a further degeneration in their souls and, as far as in them lay, were corrupting the whole of mankind.”

It was brought in by 68 Democrat lawmakers, 1 Republican named Abel Maldonado, and of course our own RINO, California's liberal Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Time to get busy and get this scum out of our legislature.

This bill would require the governor proclaim May 22 each year as Harvey Milk Day. It would encourage public schools and educational institutions to conduct suitable commemorative exercises on that date.

What does that mean? A gay pride parade for the kindergardeners?

Time, I suppose, for one of my favorite quotes:

“Vice is a monster of so frightful mien,
As to be hated needs but to be seen;
Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face,
We first endure, then pity, then embrace.”

Then Assemblyman Willie Brown - who later became mayor of SF and now appears as a talking head on cable TV - was a strong supporter of Jim Jones even after Jonestown. Jane Fonda supported him, at least briefly. Moscone also supported Jim Jones. Mondale praised him.
