why haven’t we heard this before?

We did.

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 6 AM : (LONGBOAT KEY, FL : COLONY BEACH & TENNIS RESORT : MIDDLE EASTERN MEN IN VAN CLAIM THEY HAVE A SCHEDULED POOLSIDE INTERVIEW WITH PRESIDENT BUSH BUT ARE TURNED AWAY BECAUSE NO SUCH INTERVIEW WAS SCHEDULED; BUSH WAS GETTING READY FOR HIS MORNING JOG AT THE TIME. ) By now, most everyone knows President George W. Bush began that fateful day, Sept. 11, on Longboat Key, but the FBI is now investigating whether terrorists also began that fateful day here on the island. At about 6 a.m. Sept. 11, Longboat Key Fire Marshall Carroll Mooneyhan was at the front desk of the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort as Bush prepared for his morning jog. From that vantage point, Mooneyhan overheard a strange exchange between a Colony receptionist and security guard. A van occupied by men of Middle Eastern descent had pulled up to the Colony stating they had a “poolside” interview with the president, Mooneyhan said. The self-proclaimed reporters then asked for a Secret Service agent by name. Guards from security relayed the request to the receptionist, who had not heard of either the agent or plans for an interview, Mooneyhan said. The receptionist gave the phone over to a nearby Secret Service agent, who said the same thing — no one knew of an agent by that name or of any poolside interview. The agent told the occupants of the van to contact the president’s public relations office in Washington, D. C., and turned them away from the premises, Mooneyhan said. In light of the attacks, Mooneyhan wonders if what he witnessed is related to the events of Sept. 11. So does the FBI. “That’s very strange,” said an unnamed agent with the Sarasota field office of the FBI, who directed agents to look into the matter. ------- "Possible Longboat terrorist incident: Is it a clue or is it a coincidence?," By Shay Sullivan, City Editor, Wednesday, September 26, 2001, Longboat Observer, http://www.longboatobserver.com/showarticle.asp?ai=1874

Yes. Using Pali terrorists, Iraq tried to assassinate Bush Sr, the Emir of Kuwait and W Bush’s wife.

Those disgusting dirtbags really would have been in deep water had they also attempted to harm our President George W. Bush that same day.

I believe they did "attempt" to harm our President on that day. Fortunately, they failed.

You have to be careful of anything attributed to this guy:

Hopsicker, 7/22/02

He's a guy in Seattle who was spreading all kinds of crap right after 9/11.

It wouldn’t be strange considering that the USS Cole had been bombed in Oct 2000 and the chatter of impending attacks on American targets was way up months before 9/11. Also, recall Moussaoui was arrested in August. Being pre-9/11 nobody had the authority to waterboard him but there was an inkling something was up relating to hijackings. Problem was, the CIA wasn’t let in on the info the FBI had collected, while the FBI didn’t have info the CIA collected or material from foreign intel services. Based on habit and the availability of data, the assumption at the time was that these were overseas targets. It was the same sort of ignorant assumption that lead our intelligence services’ ‘old hands’ to think the religious al Qaeda couldn’t possibly make deals with a secular state.

Bin Laden had Masood killed to prove to Mullah Omar that Bin Laden was serious about supporting the Taliban

Did you have a URL link to this? I tried the wesbite without success.

I am not surprised that a lot was NOT investigated.

A friend of mine in Leesburg, Virginia, went ot he nearby Dulles Airport and interviewed the check-in clerks for American Airlines who checked in the hijackers on Flight 77.

Incredibly, they had NOT been interviewed by the FBI !!! A week or two after 9/11, no one had talked to them until Teresa Brumback interviewed them for a story that appeared in Newsweek.

No one came out to dust the counter for fingerprints or interview witnesses.

exactly. ‘turned away’ my butt. no way in heck the SS would have just pushed ‘em along on their merry way.

Well, I'm not sure of that. It would have been better, obviously. However, the news media does interview the President all the time. And the news media includes reporters from all over the world.

And at that time -- pre-9/11 -- RACIAL PROFILING was the big taboo. And treating the news media badly hurts any politician.

However, they could have done better without being rude, asking for a phone number for someone to call them back, writing down license plate information (though that could have been stolen).

A reporter's interview would normally have included security checks in advance. But the social security would not have wanted to antagonize legitimate reporters, on the chance that they were.

You can't just go around tackling journalists and treating them like criminals.

We would like to, of course, but we can't.
