I don't recall hearing the details of the planes where box cutters were found. Planes are clear prior to take off. I think the terrorist must have already boarded.

I think both are true, although the Bush Administration and most people seem to be tone deaf and incompetent at explaining things and being clear about important details and facts.

I think that there was both a flight where Middle Eastern looking men pushed their way off the aircraft when it landed in Miami AND ALSO OTHER planes where boxcutters were found stashed without any people associated with them.

You say that the planes are cleared, but if they were stashed under blankets in the storage bins or in other out-of-the way places they would not have been noticed easily. However,the Bush Administration, the media, the 9/11 Commission, and everyone else seem to ignore these powerful details and focus on minor issues instead.

I worked for an airline at the time and you are correct. On many planes including other companies, not included in the successfull attacks, people cleaning in the days following found box cutters tucked in seats of planes.

Surface-to-air missiles were placed on the roof of the resort , and an Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) plane circled high overhead.

I find this rather hard to believe. I notice that History Commons does not have a source on that point, unlike everything else.

However, Ronald Reagan did have surface-to-air mssiles placed on the roof of the White House, which I believe consists of shoulder-fired Stinger missiles.

SO it is possible that Stinger -- shoulder-fired, mobile -- missiles were taken from storage on Air Force One and taken by the Secret Service to the hotel.

I seriously doubt that they installed anything significant. I also find it hard to believe that we would KNOW about it if this was a secret service security measure.

Wow. Interesting. I wish they would publicize it. However, we too often “bury our lead” and lose the most important details.

The airlines probably don’t want to alarm the flying public. Law enforcement is obsessed with keeping things secret until the trial in court, and want to hush everything up so they can engage in “TRIAL BY AMBUSH” against defendants in court.

The bureaucrats don’t get it. The politicians don’t think they need to dignify the public’s curiosity or question with an answer.

What a shame that the best information is lost to history.

Here’s a true 9/11 story...

Two good friends of mine were to fly that morning from Minneapolis MSP to Chicago ORD for a three day conference. When they got to the check in desk, they were informed that two seats in business class had become “available” due two a last minute cancellation and would they like to upgrade. They did. Row 1 seats in business class. The flight attendant in business class was of middle-eastern descent with a thick accent.

Of course, at the time, they thought nothing of it.

Their flight was to depart at approx. the same time as the second plane crashed into the WTC.

They never pulled away from the gate and everybody got off, still not knowing what was going on on the esat coast.

Now, MSP is about five miles from the Mall of America, which would have been a big prize, or the final destination was Chicago, with lots of big buildings.......

They still have their tickets and boarding passes, tucked safely away in their fire-proof safes.

If I remember correctly, I first noticed the SAMs on the roof top of the school was reported in Time magazine. I don’t have the reference handy and I not sure if this was also noted in the 911 report.

Been a while since I looked at this however from my days in the AF and to my knowledge of speaking to “personal” friends previously in the 89th, I was not aware of using missiles on roof tops of buildings that a president was visiting? Especially a school...

Could be common practice after 911 however I find this strange PRIOR to 911.

Your story may have had parallels with other people that day, as all domestic flights were shut down.

Investigations into the such stories, and if they merited deeper investigation, should have begun in earnest 7 to eight years ago. It may have led to some sleeper cells, even if only in a few cases, given the opening evidence would have been very circumstantial.

Some may have found it NOT politically correct to pursue.

I recall reading that there was one flight that had 4 Islamic men on it that returned to gate after the airline system was shutdown in the aftermath of the two WTC hits - they refused to leave the plane until it was explained to them that it would not leave.
