NOBEL PRIZE ROBS OBAMA
boblonsberry.com ^ | 10/12/09 | Bob Lonsberry

Posted on 10/12/2009 10:37:01 AM PDT by shortstop

I kind of feel sorry for Obama.

The Nobel committee ripped him off. As is always the case when something is given undeserved and unearned, he has lost the opportunity to prove himself.

The Nobel Peace Prize is probably something Barack Obama has daydreamed about. His astounding sense of entitlement and self no doubt had led him to believe that one day he would receive the Nobel prize.

And who knows, maybe someday he would have earned it. He certainly has a global view of himself, as a leader whose abilities and charms know no limit. And maybe after a year or four or eight he might actually have done something that, in honest assessment, merited the prize.

But now we’ll never know.

Now he’ll never receive it honestly.

His chance to prove himself was stolen by Norwegian propagandists. They cheated not just history, but him.

Yes, this award has been trivialized by awarding it to Al Gore and even Jimmy Carter – how is that Middle East peace going, anyway? But it remains the award that was given to Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. The latter spent most of his adult life in prison and emerged to lead a country not to vengeance but to equality. The former was an important leader in an effort which, in a short number of years, transformed American thinking and law.

Those are two prizes for the ages.

Even the previous awards to sitting presidents seemed appropriate. Teddy Roosevelt stopped a war between Russia and Japan and thereby saved tens of thousands of lives. Woodrow Wilson came into World War I – eventually – thereby bringing it to an end and saving tens of thousands of lives. On top of that, he helped form the League of Nations. It may have been an ill-conceived organization, but at least he was trying.

For his part, Barack Obama was essentially honored for events between noon on January 20 and midnight January 31. None but the blindest partisans think he deserves the award.

He doesn’t.

But neither is the award his fault.

And he is not much of a beneficiary, as it will forever ring hollow on his list of accolades.

The harm done to Barack Obama by this award is similar to that done by praise too freely given to children and the unfair advantages associated with affirmative action.

Nothing truly good ever came on a silver platter, even if it was a gold medallion.

Many children today, seethed in the self-esteem cult of contemporary homes and schools, are praised for everything, even failing. “Good try!” is shouted from the sidelines of countless athletic contests as a youngster has failed to make a play. High grades get smiley faces and low grades get smiley faces and everybody gets praised and lionized. Every child is the smartest and the prettiest and the result is a generation of talentless, lazy little narcissists with a massive chip on their shoulder.

But worse than being spoiled, those children are deprived of praise truly earned. If you are a little hero for getting a C, what does the praise really mean when you work hard and get an A? Like the movie says, “If everyone is special, no one is special.” And the child who excels, who works hard and achieves something worthwhile, hears praise that is cheapened by its ubiquity.

And affirmative action, passing out scholarships and jobs and promotions and praise on the basis of race or gender or handicap or religion, likewise cheapens genuine achievement. If someone in a favored class works and excels and earns a scholarship or a promotion or something of the sort, the victory is tainted to an extent because the same reward is given equally to those who have not achieved.

Unearned praise damages the person who has earned praise.

And maybe Barack Obama would have earned the Nobel Peace Prize. But he clearly has not earned it yet.

Worse, he has now lost the chance to ever earn it fairly. A greatness he probably believes he has, and is eager to demonstrate, will go unhonored because some idiots in Norway had a crush on him. No true competitor wants the gold medal without running and winning the race, and that probably applies to Barack Obama.

It’s not his fault he won, he’s not the dope in this mess. He’s probably the victim.

Maybe he should have stood up in the Rose Garden and declined. No thanks, not this year. Maybe in a couple of years, look at what I’ve done then, but not yet.

What we have instead is an object lesson, in how ridiculous and unsatisfying it is to pass out unearned praise.

I hope you are joking. He’s gotten everything with help from others, since the time he entered Occidental. Give me a break. He would rather get things for doing nothing. He’s never done an honest days work in his entire life.

I believe Charles Krauthammer takes the prize for the best characterization of why Obozo won the Nobel.

It was for his “general splendidness.”

LOL.

If Obama were allowed to prove himself how would we ever know it?

Obama has not released his kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, files from his years as an Illinois state senator, Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records and his adoption records.

If he had any real self esteem he would have thanked the committee for their faith in him and declined the award. He should have said that they should consider him after he has had a chance to accomplish something/anything. He should have pointed out that there where other more deserving that had actually accomplished their goals through hard work and planning. But no, he took the undeserved award and found a way to be lower in my eyes.

He is dishonest and is not worthy of anyone’s respect.

Don’t you realize that when all the ex-KGB thugs, “Dear Leaders,” cannibal kings, presidents-for-life, wife-beating imams, grand muftis, pederastic ayatollahs, Wahhabi petro-sultans, neomarxist fascists, narco-presidentés, bomb-building Twelver Shī‘as, military dictators, potentates-of-Squat, and all their self-aggrandizing minions who control the United Nations simply form a circle, join their bloody hands with the The Anointed One, and sing:

Mmm, mmm, mm!
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama!

there’ll be love and laughter and peace ever after. Just you wait and see.

This I know, because the Nobel-Peace-Prize Committee tells me so.

Sure he would have earned it. It's now a medal that honors subservience and surrender to tyranny.

Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher did more to secure lasting peace on this planet that all other recipients combined.

But they'll never be honored because they brought peace through victory. And that's considered too uppity.

Everything is about him. He won, he didn’t win, he was robbed, he deserves it, he doesn’t deserve it, he’s wonderful, he’s not so wonderful...

How about the folks who truly deserved such an award? On article here heralded them a few days back.

It should have been about them, they were robbed, they deserved it, they were wonderful...

Obama does not love his homeland. Hey, he doesn’t have to. I just think it’s reasonable for those who do, to want someone who does to run their nation.

Instead we have a jackass who thinks we are unfair to those who want to destroy us. He thinks our allies are boorish and insults them at will. He betrays old alliances to favor the enemies of those we had agreements with.

It baffles me how anyone could want a jerk like this to represent us, but some do. That ought to tell you quite a bit about where the long term interests of our nation stand in their priorities.

When those in the U.S. that hate the nation outnumber those who love it and will lift a finger to defend it, then it’s time for the U.S. to cease to exist.

And so, here we are, watching it cease to exist.

Now after getting caught pandering to ineptitude, some want to separate the prize and the person, with the record blaring a relationship of junk science, identity politics and perpetual failure, worse than the joke is the similarity to that of racism, once proven anything that follows has no credibility. Supposedly, unlike Dr. King and a number of others; Obama is a racist and a fraud! Although, come to think of it, may be on the other hand, the others did not deserve such an award either, with the likes of Carter, Kofi Annan, ElBaradei and Gore; so the decisive factor is that of “Liberalism being a Mental Disorder.” So do the other category candidates also not deserve their recognition? Or, are only those that foster Socialist and Marxist agendas worthy?

Exactly what I told the union steward back in the 80's when I resigned from the first union I ever joined after 3 months of membership.

Unions are little microcosms of socialism - that's why obama likes them so much.

Unions kill every incentive for acheivement and reward for doing a good job. The exchange individual accomplishment rewards for the sake of the union (state). Just pay your dues (taxes) and the union (government) will take care of you...BUT, you can never excel or rise about a nominal salary or receive any substantial monetary awards because you must remain equal to all the other unionites.

Unions and socialism are roads to mediocrity, where you will become a cookie-cutter version of a worker bee, keep your mouth shut, pay your dues, and die young and poor.

But we could promote Obama into Secretary General of the UN. I mean he probably would find that more flattering then the President of some country he doesn’t even like. Maybe he would settle for King of Norway.

That’s a big reason why ever since Reagan, the creative part of our economy, responsible for 3/4 of new jobs, has been small business. Small business owners pay income tax on their profits. So now they are shut down by

Big company politics, or the fear by others that the same could happen to them, inhibit the idea that people high up should be held responsible. So instead they are given golden parachutes or highly paid staff jobs.

He should get the Cy Young Award this year, for throwing out the first pitch at the All Star Game. Unlike the Nobel Peace Prize, he actually did something to earn that one. (That there was no batter at the plate is a trivial detail.)
