Here was a chance for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. to admit he was wrong, and to conclude publicly that government intervention in the private sector doesn't always result in the best of outcomes.
McCain appeared on CNN's Oct. 11 "State of the Union" in a pre-recorded interview and was asked by host John King if the lackluster recovery of the economy warranted more government intervention.
"The president has said he's considering new initiatives to help job creation," King said. "They passed one stimulus plan and most Republicans, including John McCain, have been pretty critical of this $787-billion stimulus passed early in the year. Should the President do more now through government spending, though tax incentives or should he wait because, as you have said many times, we have so much red ink, we can't afford much more?"

What was that direct mortgage bailout proposal that McCain was pushing during the campaign? I think he’s referring to regrets that we didn’t go for that option instead. (Which may have been an even worse idea than TARP was.)

I’m a lot more concerned about his “Let a thousand flowers bloom” comment. That’s what Mao said to get dissidents to pop their heads up so they could be rounded up and executed.
McCain is a freakin nut case.

YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID.
(Give McCain the Bob Dole award and retire him to do sun screen lotion ads.)

McCain wouldn’t know Mao if you dropped on him a 40 foot, leather bound copy of the Chairman’s Little Red Book.

Sunday,
McCain said. "When we selected or asked Sarah Palin to be my running mate, it energized our party. We were ahead in the polls, until the stock market crashed. And she still is a formidable force in the Republican Party."
Somewhat revisionist.
"We were ahead in the polls, until
the stock market crashed ... " McCain rushed to Washington to help resurrect the bailout bill that had gotten trounced. Not only did he help resurrect it, but he assisted in getting about $184 Billion pork added to it. After JohnnyMc voted for it, his numbers declined significantly, and they did not improve.
JohnnyMc shot himself in the foot and blamed the Stock Market crash.
Facts sort of get in the way, JohnnyMc:

As bad as obama is and even though I voted for McCain, McCain frequently makes me thankful he didn't win.
It will be a gift to America if the good people of the great state of Arizona retire McCain in the coming election.

Neil Cavuto FNC ripped McCain spokesman on his show the day before the election for trying to have it both ways on this.(unlike all the last minute McCain or die-ers like Hannity, Levin, .)
Not only did McCain vote for TARP1, but he refused to give a statement on the Senate floor, sneaking in to vote like the rate he is. Then a few weeks later he was acting as if he opposed TARP1. He had a chance to be a leader, and pooped in his pants in fear.

exactly !
THIS is why McCain lost. He was ahead in the polls (because of Sara) till he suspended his campaign and decided to support the stimulus.
If he had taken a stand against the stimulus, he would of won in a landslide.
It would of given the voters (who were overwhelmingly against the stimulus) a clear choice, and simultaneously drawn a distinction between himself and Bush.

Dullard McCain managed to burnish his credibility as a ‘Maverick’ by picking SP as VP but true to form, McCain is such a Media stooge he rushes to DC and does exactly nothing but reveal his Inside the Beltway lack of Maverickness! He's such a dull tool! Put him out to pasture along with Myth!
