According to this link, Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings wrote the following piece in the September 29, 1998 issue of The Advocate:
Be a man: when boys take up guns to kill those who torment them with words like "faggot," we shouldn't be surprised.
When I was 8, my dad died unexpectedly of a heart attack. As the youngest of five siblings (four of us, boys), I looked to my brothers for guidance on how to act in this unsettling and unfamiliar territory. At dad's funeral I got the message. When I started crying, my brother Mike looked down and barked, "Stop crying. Be a man. Don't be a faggot."

From the immortal Patrick Swayze (Road House):
Dalton: If somebody gets in your face and calls you a c————r, I want you to be nice. Ask him to walk. Be nice. If he won’t walk, walk him. But be nice. If you can’t walk him, one of the others will help you, and you’ll both be nice. I want you to remember that it’s a job. It’s nothing personal.
Steve: Being called a c-————r isn’t personal?
Dalton: No. It’s two nouns combined to elicit a prescribed response.
Steve: What if somebody calls my mama a whore?
Dalton: Is she?
It’s all just words. If you make it into an action, that’s on you.

As Suzanne Pharr so eloquently explained in her landmark work Homophobia: A Weapon of Sexism, antigay bigotry is inextricably intertwined with the maintenance of "proper" gender roles by which little girls are supposed to be "sugar and spice and everything nice" and boys are supposed to be, well, quite the opposite. This is the kind of utter nonsense with which these people fill their minds. They teach this in our colleges and universities.
I want to punch them in the nose.

When I was a youth in public school back in the early 70s, everyone was called a fag or worse from time to time. There were fights but students rarely got hurt and never very seriously. After the fights the combatants were sometimes taken to the vice principal’s office for swats.
No one was ever shot.

Why haven't you heard more about these incidents? Well, sadly, homophobic harassment in our schools is so commonplace that it is no longer news. What a pantload. They've made Matthew Shepard into a saint, but the MSM never reported on the torture and murder of Jesse Dirkhising by homo pedophiles.

If he’d taken his brother’s advice, he’d probably be a better person. After all, that wouldn’t take much.

When my nephew was three, he went to get a haircut and they tried to put him in a pink apron. He refused. “That’s for GIRLS.” I don’t think he knows what a gay person is and he has just been raised like we were—like a normal kid—but he picked that up on his own. And, there was some flamboyant gay guy on the TV screen once and he said, “What is THAT?”

Absent father syndrome? Not having a father in the house doesn’t necessarily make someone gay, but it can contribute to the tendency.

Well, one thing’s for sure—if you shoot and kill a guy for calling you a faggot, that guy isn’t going to be calling you a faggot anymore. It might deter others from calling you a faggot as well. Eventually, word will get around that you don’t like being called a faggot and maybe people will stop calling you a faggot for fear of being shot dead by a faggot. Kevin Jennings should try this out for himself.

Whatever happened to adults giving that old-school annoying altho useful advice that “sticks and stone may break my bones, but names will never hurt me”?
Nobody says that anymore. Words are dangerous things these days. There are so many of them that you can’t say.
