Sarah Palin-mania could start up again: Look out if her upcoming book flourishes
Marketwatch ^ | September 30, 2009 | Jon Friedman

Posted on 10/10/2009 8:11:34 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Her first chapter, in national politics, exploded then fizzled when the former Republican vice presidential candidate unexpectedly retired as governor of Alaska in July. Now, Palin is back, as her memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life" has been moved up by the Harper imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, according to The Wall Street Journal. (Harper Collins and The Journal, like MarketWatch, are units of News Corp.

The book has been moved up to Nov. 17 from next spring. The publishing house said it is distributing 1.5 million copies of Palin's book -- an enormous commitment -- and it will cost $28.99. The electronic edition won't be ready until Dec. 26.

What's noteworthy here is the commercial potential of Palin's aura. Yes, her conservative followers flock to her political rallies and fundraisers. Sure, the national media can't get enough of her. "Saturday Night Live" thrived last year when Tina Fey did an uncanny job of lampooning Palin's eccentricities.

If the book flies off shelves at the stores, we will know -- for sure -- that Palin has commercial appeal, too. That's when you'll see the media lining up to ask her to host television and radio programs. And Palin-mania will once again go full throttle.(continued)

I’m Jon had to get something to his editor, and decided to write something newsworthy. Who want to know what Biden is doing now, anyway.

That would be the chapter with her as a tethered bear for the attack dogs making frivolous ethics complaints.

She was paid seven million, how could there not be success when it's already been paid?

Maybe I missed something.

IF?

'Bout the same chance as the sun rising tomorrow.

The lefties will be soiling their pants when they see someone on the street with "Going Rogue" under their arm.

We could use a good laugh from the "first negro Vice-president!" (TM Joe Biden 5-16-09).

Maybe I missed something.

I think final purchaser pre orders are near that figure now, and final purchaser copies sold are the real measure of success, not just the dollar amount.

I wish she would say something about President Obama’s disgusting humiliation of the Honduran people.....

...and I am not talking about tonight’s US/Honduran soccer World Cup qualifirer match in Tegucegalpa, (US 3-1 with 10 minutes left). Hopefully no anti-Obama violence after the game.

I think he meant their measure of success, is how much of a pre-paid bribe they get upfront for their hogwash.

Well that is how "they" measure it. They logically think "that" is how everyone operates.

"They" are wrong...and bad. There should be a new, stronger word for them. Like badwrong or badong.

I'm always in search of new derogatives to apply to liberals, so OK.

As far as the difference between conservative's books and liberal's books, union hall closets are stacked to the ceiling with liberal's books bought with union dues or Soros money. It is simply a legal way to pay a bribe to the liberal "author" (maybe that should be "authwhore"), usually a termed out Rat politician. The effect of these books is to kill trees.

Conservative's books are found are found as individually purchased copies on tables and shelves in citizen's homes. The effect of these books on the public is amazing to say the least.

Her ghostwriter, Lynn Vincent, is a terrific writer of memoirs. She wrote the compelling "Same Kind of Different as Me," (an awesome 75 weeks on the NYT Bestseller list).

Vincent is also a veteran, a former air traffic controller in the Navy.....Sarah's kind of woman.

IF her book flourishes, I say it has already gotten a very good start, and its not even printed yet:

Going Rogue: An American Life

#1 at Borders Books
#1 at WalMart pre-release sales
#1 at Amazon non-fiction #3 in all books
#1 at Barnes and Noble in non-fiction, #4 in all books
#1 at Books a Million non-fiction
#2 at Family Christian Stores (despite selling for the full $28.99 price)

Borders is a mile away from home,so very covenient to buy there. I hate the “cheesy attitude” and elitist looks when I buy conservative books. The last straw was with Beck’s book. It was at the back of the store where no one could find it, yet the cape cod orca’s book was on a table as you come in the front door. Are there any conservative book stores around?
