Yes We Can (Pass Climate Change Legislation) (John Kerry and Lindsey Graham)
New York Times ^ | October 10, 2009 | John Kerry and Lindsey Graham

Posted on 10/10/2009 6:58:36 PM PDT by reaganaut1

...

[W]e have come together to put forward proposals that address legitimate concerns among Democrats and Republicans and the other constituencies with stakes in this legislation. We’re looking for a new beginning, informed by the work of our colleagues and legislation that is already before Congress.

First, we agree that climate change is real and threatens our economy and national security. That is why we are advocating aggressive reductions in our emissions of the carbon gases that cause climate change. We will minimize the impact on major emitters through a market-based system that will provide both flexibility and time for big polluters to come into compliance without hindering global competitiveness or driving more jobs overseas.

Second, while we invest in renewable energy sources like wind and solar, we must also take advantage of nuclear power, our single largest contributor of emissions-free power. Nuclear power needs to be a core component of electricity generation if we are to meet our emission reduction targets. We need to jettison cumbersome regulations that have stalled the construction of nuclear plants in favor of a streamlined permit system that maintains vigorous safeguards while allowing utilities to secure financing for more plants. We must also do more to encourage serious investment in research and development to find solutions to our nuclear waste problem.

Third, climate change legislation is an opportunity to get serious about breaking our dependence on foreign oil. For too long, we have ignored potential energy sources off our coasts and underground. Even as we increase renewable electricity generation, we must recognize that for the foreseeable future we will continue to burn fossil fuels.

If it's not socialized medicine it's cap-and-tax. If it's not John McCain selling out the Republicans, it's Lindsey Graham.

"First, we agree that climate change is real and threatens our economy and national security.

What the hell are they talking about, it's getting hot, it's getting cold, it stays the same. No model they have used yet has been accurate even one year out and still they use it for the next hundred years. No mater the facts or evidence, climate change is man made. This is a power grab and anyone that does not see that is a moron and has no business being allowed out of the basement.

Climate change? What happened to Global Warming? This is the biggest con going sense Chicken Little declared that the sky was falling!! The world is full of complete idiots.

I have a friend who is an atmospheric scientist. he tells me that temps have actually been decreasing the last 12 years (hence the new term “Climate Change’” I suppose).

A baseball game got snowed out in Denver today!!

If you believe in man-made climate change then:

Men: I have a cheap bridge for you to buy.

Ladies: The world will end tomorrow if you don’t have sex with me.

Football fans: The Raiders will beat the Giants tomorrow.

Jeeze, liberals are nut balls. Someone stop them. They’re ruining my country.

Time for Lindsey Graham to follow Jim Jeffords and Arlen Specter to the Democrat side of the aisle . . . and for the so-called GOP leadership to force him to choose.

I was a 28 year old grad student and worked as a TA teaching 18-19 year old freshmen. These young folks were all adults but, they seemed like little kids to me...even then. I’ll never understand the attraction some men (and women) have for 13-17 year old. It’s a a kink I can’t even fathom on any level.

Look, a married guy out in bar with too many drinks in him who takes the plunge when a grown adult hottie hits on him. I could see that mistake happening. That’s an awful embarrassing icky mistake. Nothing more and nothing less.

But, that child thing, that’s a crime.

“Cap and Trade” is the greatest financial fraud yet perpetrated in a long line of financial fraud. This going back to the S & L Crisis, to Enron, to TARP and beyond. Even if one could conclusively prove that man made carbon dioxide is a threat, this absurd and destructive taxation scheme could never do anything to even slighty effect it in any real sense. But, there are so many layers to this cynical and pernicious fraud, that we will never get around to that stage of debate.

There is currently no evidence of any “Global Warming”, none of the computer models of the pro-warming crowd foresaw this, instead, “Global Warming” pundits tried to falsify the evidence to the contrary. They may not feel it does, but mendacious actions like this have shredded their credibility over the last few years. These pundits are handy with polemic vitriol when it comes to describing their scientific skeptics as “deniers”, but they are very much less handy with answers when faced with facts that shut down their thesis.

You will never hear a “Climate Change” alarmist mention the exact formulaic figures of atmospheric carbon dioxide “concentrations” as they would call them, and continue to this day to deny any natural causes, like the sun, for observed temperature variation. And finally, they have no explanation why they ignore the fact that the green house effect is vastly more dependent upon Water Vapor than CO2 by several thousands of percent. What plan does Waxman have to abate Water Vapor? One can only guess, and laugh.

The world is now COOLING. It is our responsibility to minimize wind and solar and rely more on fossil fuels. People are freezing to death. The polar bears will have no more fish. And the poor people who live on the beach will probably lose their views when people build on the miles of new beach in front of them. AlGore, fire up your power point!

If it's not John McCain selling out the Republicans, it's Lindsey Graham.

That's because they are one and the same.

Queeg won't take the lead because he has to get re-elected next year, so his lap dog will be front and center attacking conservatives and shilling for the left.

More social engineering. It’s no accident that poverty in this nation is increasing, our middle class disappearing as the push by the envirofreaks escalates. THEY know something we don’t want to admit...POOR people use fewer resources, because they can’t afford them. (except for the fact they have more children!) And if these global warming extremists get their way, all of us, excepting them of course, will be poor, just like the 3rd worlders they are importing by the millions.

Lindsey Graham & John Kerry are IDIOTS! They are a bigger threat to our economy and national security than 'climate change'. BTW, what happened to 'global warming'? I guess all that early snow and cooler weather forced them to change it to 'climate change'!

Failure to act comes with another cost. If Congress does not pass legislation dealing with climate change, the administration will use the Environmental Protection Agency to impose new regulations.

They are saying it's going to happen no matter what. That regulation will happen thru Congress and/or the EPA via the lunatic energy CZAR Carol Browner.

So the rats are jumping on the ship because it's going to sail with or without them?

...This is beyond infuriating! We have a fascist government hell bent on destroying this country....
