How can a sitting President receive cash from anyone and then exercise control over it?

What an easy way to hide a BRIBE.

I think he’d be an embarrassment if he dared keep it. He’s probably already got all the money he’s going to need for the rest of his life. He’s set up for life.

Just an announcement to make him seem nice.

If I remember correctly he can NOT accept the cash legally

So the press makes him seem like something special.

In the basement of the Ronald Reagan library is a literal treasure trove of gifts that the President received while in office — he could not keep ANY of them.

If Obama had any class at all he would have declined the Nobel Peace Prize, thanked the committee for their consideration, recommended the prize be awarded to one of the other candidates, and added an end note along the lines being honored to be considered again in the future after he has served his term (hopefully singular).

This whole thing is ridiculous at best. He accepted a prize he isn’t worthy of, and almost everyone knows it.

Ah, but you forgot to read the fine print:

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State. This rule expires Jan. 20, 2009. No birth certificate required. Void unless prohibited.

I believe there are statutes that control what he can do with the money. It has to do with gifts and emoluments given to him when in office.

There will be plenty bestowed on him for the destruction of America when he leaves office (and it can’t come soon enough). This is pocket change.
