Congress Fails to Act as Thousands Collect Their Last Unemployment Checks
'We're Dying Out Here' While Congress Stalls

The House of Representatives voted on an extension of unemployment benefits 17 days ago, but today the Senate failed to pass a bill of its own.
In those two weeks the Senate has failed to act, an estimated 200,000 Americans have lost a lifeline.
Many who contacted ABCNews.com said lawmakers are missing the emergency.
"I wonder if the senators of this great country ever wake up worrying about how to pay their electric bill or feed their family. I do," said Todd Bowling.
"I expect my landlord today. I expect him to come here today and demand the rent. And I don't have anything. I don't know what to tell him," said Yvonne Shine.
While the Senate debates how generous the extension should be, those who have lost their safety net are asking why lawmakers seem to have so many other priorities.
"Do they not see we're dying out here?" asked Jonathan Brewster.
In the time since the House voted to extend benefits, the Senate has kept busy -- with other bills. Senators marked up a major health care reform bill, passed $636 billion in defense spending, passed $32 billion to fund the Department of Interior, and $4.6 billion to fund Congress itself -- including a pay raise for House and Senate staffers.

This has been my worry for quite a while. Will we start seeing an increase in crime as desperate people, used to getting welfare checks, no longer receive them?
the only reason the Dims pushed the defense spending bill through was to get thought crimes....errrrr, "hate crimes"....legislation passed.
Think of that payraise when you vote against all incumbents.
Funny, not once in this article do they use the term "Democrats".
The economy is no longer an issue with the Congress. The Obama agenda has seen to that. The economy goes, and so do the jobs. In stark contrast to the OPINION of the socialists in Congress and the MSM, the private sector makes jobs, not the government. The government has control over the general economy and that is where Obama, et al, have closed the valve.
The welfare checks are still flowing, it’s the unemployment checks that stop.
Obviously, it's a vast right wing conspiracy and Bush is leading it.
Simply put, a great number of our Senators and Congress people don't bother with worrying about it. They write a check regardless of whether or not they have enough money to cover it.
Barack Hussein Ubama, mmm! mmm! mmm!
Unemployment will get extended forever...it is a new welfare system.
People dumped off unemployment will soon sour of the 0 and become republican voters. Those left clinging to an endlessly extended unemployment check will be dem voters....this is why it will be extended!
I just knew that "clunkers" wouldn't bring in enough money to pay for the program and keep people working. /s
It won’t be the people used to getting welfare, it will be the people UN-used to getting it that will be desperate.
That will be the next stop for many of these people if they have kids at home, if not then they will most likely get only food stamps. I’d say for most it is time to start looking for somewhere else to live like the low income projects.
More Insurance and Welfare sob stories for the Obamunists can use to thier advantage.
Remember...
We are dealing with RADICALS, who see CREATING MISERY as a toll they can use to thier advantage.
You would think that a Democrat congress that can waste a trillion tax dollars on a porkulus spending spree could come up with the funds for lifetime “unemployment” welfare.
LOL! Anyone have the words to that Obama song?
I mean it is so typically socialist as they are too lazy to write any words so they just say mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. I mean it is hilarious.
People out there are having a rough rough time. There are no jobs and people have exhausted their savings or are close. The fools have no clue why as the liberal TV news media keeps fawning over Dems and the Nobel prize winner.
ABC News = Disney. Remember to boycott Disney.
