Because of the idiot Republican Primary System - everyone was eliminated before the Texas Primary except McLame and Huckabee... we had no one to vote for ... THUS we didn’t vote ... what was the use?

Sarah drives 'em nuts because unlike the denizens of DC, she actually understands and relates to most folks in this conservative leaning country. The movers and shakers of the Pubbie party apparently drank the Beltway Koolaid long ago and are almost as out of touch as the Dims. Sarah "gets" it!

My Ode to Sarah.

The guy or gal who gets second get ZERO delegates...conversely, the Democrats had to deal with a head to head race to the finish between Hillary and Obama because they were splitting delegates in each state.

An important historical note - Hillary! pushed for those rules. If she had run against Obama under winner-take-all, she would have won.

Probably the only safe idea is to require only Republicans to take part in Republican primaries.

Moderates and liberals hate conservatives.

Moderates did not hate President Reagan. It was unfortunate that he picked up neocons along the way, or we might have had continuous conservative Republican party rule since 1980.

Polls have been showing that this country considers itself more conservative than anything else. For the first time this year, we've actually had a poll showing a majority opposed to abortion.

Do note that President Reagan pissed off people so much that they went out and defeated his Vice President in a landslide when it was his turn to run. Oh wait ...

The bulk of the problem is apathy...no one cares until it is too late.

There's a root cause to this apathy thing. Perhaps I'm more sensitive to it because I've usually voted in California. By the time the primary gets to me, the candidate that I really want(ed) to vote for has already dropped out.

I really, really hate this system where a handful of tiny states get to decide the momentum of the primary before 99% of the rest of us have voted.

Never forget that one of the decisive factors in Reagan -vs- Carter was the fact that Carter gave up before the polls closed on the west coast. That's just as bad as Clinton -vs- Dole where Clinton was declared the winner before the polls had closed on the west coast.

The only rational solution to this is to have voting times correspond across all US timezones so that the polls all close at the same time. OK, so some of us will have to vote at inconvenient times. As a superpower, can't we deal with that?

I think if she runs it will be 2016 or even 2020.

I think that's a bit too late, but I'm not a political wonk. Both President Reagan and impeached ex-President Clinton won eight years of presidency winning first against an incumbent.

The one thing Sarah Palin must never do is change simply to appeal to a segment of voters. What she should do is what Reagan did, chart a steady course, her own course, and require the independents and voter segments to see her views as the right ones to support.

What he said. Absolutely a winning strategery.

These “Republican Strategists” sound more and more like DNC operatives working the GOP from the inside.

But i think it is because the establishment is in agreement with the RATS on how to change the country. Look how they shoved McCain down our throats when there were so many other contenders that the party electorate liked better.

I think the GOP primary voters picked the candidate they thought had the best chance of beating the rat. Primary voters tend to be more informed, and in tuned to the issues. That is why they vote, while the vast majority of people do not vote in primaries. The rules of each state's primary are written by the state legislature. The state legislators are elected by voters. A conspiracy of voters "shoved McCain down our throats."

Who do you believe was a contender "that the party electorate liked better?" Do you have some reason to believe the Huckster, Rudy, or Romney would have fought a tougher campaign or had any particular advantage over 0 that McCain didn't? They probably wouldn't have had the brains to pick Palin as a running mate. The other, and more conservative GOP candidates couldn't attract votes or money. I can see how someone could view money and votes as indicators to the popularity of vigorously conservative candidates and their ideas with GOP primary voters.

I think McCain's strategists have noticed that conservatives were unsuccessful in defeating McCain during the primaries despite animosity from Rush, Hannity, Levin, and Savage and conservative internet forums like FR, and even GOP insiders loyal to Bush. They noticed Palin's overwhelming adoration by conservatives translated into a crushing defeat by the most liberal rat in the Senate. They noticed that Dubya won his first primary and Presidency as a "Compassionate Conservative" and they have concluded that Palin will attract all the conservative vote but will not win.

I think Palin is the GOPs best hope to bring conservatives and moderates to polls. She is a real phenomena who delivers Moms. I trust her, and I think she is more intelligent and savvy than it might seem to those who watch the heavily edited "gotcha" question interviews by the driveby media. I would be proud to vote for her as our 1st woman President.

As long as the RNC has these has candidates and "strategists" they will get no support from much of the base.

It's winnowing time for this nation. Either the wheat gets separated from the chaff or we hasten our decline.

You have more confidence in the integrity of vote counting than i do. Maybe you’re a lot less jaded than i am. It must be nice to see the world thru your eyes.

As for the choice of Sarah Palin, that was a stroke of genius on someones part. Maybe it wasn’t McCains decision to make tho.

Yes, there are maybe’s in this reply. But i for one have to continue to question what the hell is going on in our country. Thinking about things according to old paradigms is somewhat naive albeit optimistic. It’s good to have people like you out there. We need people to be thinking about things from every angle possible.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

No matter, say some observers: there's a gaping disconnect between her fans and those who know what it takes to run a successful political campaign.

These RINO professional hacks are clueless as to exactly how pissed off the Conservative base is with them and their wishy-washy Democrat-lite strategies. SCREW THEM!

"Were she to be the nominee, we could have a catastrophic election," Steve Schmidt, John McCain's presidential campaign manager last year, said recently.

No Mr Schmidt, I wish no ill health on the Senator, but if something did happen to his health during that time frame and Sarah became the nominee, many here what have given their left n#t to see her debate the Bamster. They would have given up something you don't have.....

And by the way, the Best McCain on the ticket was Cindy. She would have made a great 1st lady and her poltical instincts gave us Sarah via her input to her husband to pick her....

Both Schmidt and Murphy are Romney hatchet men with an agenda to bury Palin and clear the way for him.

As a huge Sarah supporter, I'd love to know the background details on her selection as VP. I highly doubt Juan wanted her as he preferred his "friend from the other side" Lieberman.

Just who pushed her name to the front and who else supported the selection hopefully will be in her book.
