PARIS - Somali pirates in two skiffs fired on a French navy vessel early Wednesday after apparently mistaking it for a commercial boat, the French military said.
The French ship gave chase and captured five suspected pirates.
No one was wounded by the volleys from the Kalashnikov rifles directed at La Somme, a 3,800-ton refueling ship, French military spokesman Rear Adm. Christophe Prazuck said

The proper way to hold pirates who attack a warship is by using tweezers on the largest fragments you can find.
When FReepers have nothing to contribute, they bash the French. BTW, this is the second time somalis attacked a French warship.....try to get a clue.
I dunno, U.S. Navy support vessels are invariably haze gray and damn shipshape in appearance. I suspect the French Navy is similar. The only merchant ships in those waters are large, fast tankers and rusty coastal freighters, neither of which resemble a warship.

Just following the sense of where the discussion was heading, totally away from the subject at hand: Sailors take pirates. Somehow, the thread took a different tacking.
I've been to France three times. It reminded me more of the rude people in Maine, especially in and around Paris. Clearly, they do not like Americans.
