Paige Bennethum, 4, holds her daddy's hand as he lines up in formation before heading to Iraq. Credit: Abby Bennethum Some things are just not allowed when soldiers are standing in formation. One of them is 4-year-old girls.
However, there was no soldier stern enough to pry Paige Bennethum of Laureldale, Pa. from her father as he prepared to leave last July for a year-long deployment in Iraq.

Thanks for the tissue alert ... I hope it’s okay I posted the photo.
This one will make your screen all blurry.
Oh dear. God Bless daddies and their little girls. Keep’em all safe.
Getting very teary eyed.
Afternoon tissue ping to picture.
ping for later.
There really is nothing to say. Just that I am so greatful to this little girl and her daddy for what they give for our wonderful country. I promise to fight the good fight here.

You weren’t kidding
Video of Paige here...
My son in law is redeploying for third tour in the ‘Stans right after Thanksgiving. He has two girls 12 and 3. He was in the Army when they got married, daughter is prior Army so she knew what the deal was. Still, it’s hard on the family.
this breaks my heart...
It’s high time to stop sending our boys into combat when the actual battle isn’t even acknowledged by the media. From watching the MSM and even Fox News, I would have thought there was no more war in Iraq.
I guess the news from Iraq is mostly good, that’s why we ain’t hearing about it.
Please convey my condolences to him having to serve under this bunch of defeatist, elitist, clowns in DC.
Awwwww. how sweet that is. Pray for our troops!
May God keep him and all of our Military safe.
FUBO
Little moves me.
That did.
[sniff][wipe]
The price of liberty.
So hush little baby
Don’t you cry
You know your daddy’s bound to die
But all my trials, Lord will soon be over
Precious. Thank you for posting.
I’ll have to look again later - my screen is suddenly blurry. Freedom isn’t free and it is a huge sacrifice that soldiers and their families make.
One..they are not "boys" and secondly, we are not "sending them to combat". It's an all volunteer service now.
In addition, every time the news "covers" a war, the politicians politicize it. Didn't need it yesterday, don't need it today or tomorrow.
Blurry screen and importance of fathers ping.
so that’s why people decide to join the military? To be on CNN? And to think I always thought it was because they want to protect our freedom and the American way of life.
You are proposing allowing the media to determine what is and isn't important to our national defense?
I just... I have no words for how despicable what you propose is. Let the media decide what's best for our nation? Vile.
And they aren't "boys". They are soldiers, men and women. They aren't "sent" - they answer the call voluntarily.
From watching the MSM and even Fox News, I would have thought there was no more war in Iraq.
Honestly: why do you think it matters so much what the media says or does or covers or doesn't cover?
I guess the news from Iraq is mostly good, thats why we aint hearing about it.
I suggest you open your ears and eyes. Soldiers come home every day. Ask one. And say "thank you" while you have their attention. They aren't doing it for the attention or to be on the news, but they usually appreciate hearing from those they protect anyway.
To get you started on your search for good news, here's a freebie: Families exiled by Saddam return to Iraq (^). From the AP, no less.
Prayers for your daughter, son-in-law, and their family.
God Bless and keep safe all the Daddies and Mommies who serve our country to keep us safe and free.
That is pure love.
“Get your tissues before opening this to look at the photo.”
Tear-jerker for sure.
As good as that one during the return of the US suveillance plane team
that the ChiComs first downed (thanks to the retard acrobatics of their
“jet ace”).
I remember seeing the arrival ceremony on (believe it or not)
CBS moderated by their on-air personality Russ Mitchell.
As the personnel emerged from the plane that flew them in for the
ceremony (a C-19?), each family was generally orderly in moving forward
to strongly embrace their return family member.
Then when one of the personnel exited the plane, a little girl
(age 4 or 5?) bolted out of the handhold of her mom and ran full-tilt
with a shout of “Daddy!!!”.
I was actually impressed to hear Russ Mitchell almost involuntarily
gasp a “Oh, wow!” at that tear-jerker of a scene.
ping
Picture says it all.
I REALLY NEED a screensaver of that photo. How do I get a large version from the news agency?
bumping for a patriot
